Lily Ashton | 4 comments Good thriller with an ending that was as shocking as it was unexpected. Loved the classical references too.

message 10: by Clare (new)

Clare Walker | 12 comments I enjoyed this book...eventually. Quite a slow start. Got a little tired of the main character's constant "whinging" about her past.

It's a good example of a "classical detective" mystery, in which the sleuth who actually solves the murder mystery is not a professional in law enforcement or investigation, but is an "Everyman" with some personal quirks. Others in this genre include Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, and pretty much all the "cozy mysteries."

A good number of red herrings caused the right amount of misdirection, and the final twist + the solution was unexpected!

Pretty good.
