I've been reading more standalone too, Viki. Sometimes I'm just i the mood for something that begins and ends straight away.

Congrats on the three books, Viki, as I know you thought you might not get much reading in. And, they were all by authors I really like. Glad to see you enjoyed the Ware book. That was my first by her.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 2090 comments I'm a little late.

1.Did you complete and/or get up to date in any series this month?

I completed The Perfect Gentlemen by Shayla Black & Lexie Blake

2. Did you start any new series? If so, what were they? Will you continue?

I started 2 new series that I will continue.

A Wrexford & Sloane Mystery by Andrea Penrose (historical)
The Troubleshooters by Suzanne Brockman (SEAL romantic suspense)

3. Did you move forward in any series (that you didn’t complete or finish)? How many?

I moved forward in 6 series

Karen Rose – Romantic Suspense
Kendra Elliot – Columbia River
Alexandra Sokoloff – The Huntress /FBI
Angela Marsons -DI Kim Stone
Lisa Jackson – New Orleans
Julia Quinn – The Bridgertons

4. Any standout or 5 star books read? Why did you love it/them?

I had 5 standout books for different reasons.

The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann - I love the flashbacks and characters
Gimme Some Sugar by Juliette Poe – I needed a sweet romance and loved the ending to this series
A Dark Lure by Loreth Anne White – White always pulls me into her stories
Child’s Play by Angela Marsons – Kim Stone is one of my favorites, and this story hit close to home.
At the Pleasure of the President by Shayla Black & Lexi Blake – Good suspense to end the series. Great characters.

.5. Overall summary of your reading month?

I read/listened to 16 books this month. It was a great reading month. I don't regret reading anything.

The only story that didn’t live up to my expectations was Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. I am blaming this on the TV series spoiler revealing Lady Whistledown. When I look at older reviews, they all comment on how much fun it was to find out who Lady Whistledown is. Also Colin let me down with his petty jealousy of Penelope’s career.

Winterhouse is a fun story about a girl who has nothing and suddenly finds an adventure in an old Victorian hotel with quirky characters.
The Explorer's Code - another story with clues and codes - family dynamics. Three kids, three sets of clues - come together at the end in this dandy mystery tale.
Baylor's Guide to the Other Side - Baylor's twin sister, Kristina is dead, but helps him deliver messages from dead loved ones to the living.
The Unteachables - Hilarious situations highlight this one, especially for educators. Ex.. teacher's name is Zachary Kermit and they call him Mr. Ribbit.
Con Quest! fun ride through a comic convention like San Diego Comic Con with characters such as Whom M. D. instead of Dr. Who and Star Worlds instead of Star Wars.
Lola Benko, Treasure Hunter Three very clever kids use their intelligence to get out of outrageous and hilarious situations.
Dead City - Read all three books - Organization to keep zombies in New York City in line. Funny and, well, zombies.
Framed! - Florian Bates uses TOAST - Theory of All Small Things to solve an art theft for the FBI. Read all three books.
