Educated, by Tara Westover, is an auto-biography that details Tara's unusual upbringing on a mountain in Idaho. Tara and her many siblings were homeschooled thanks to their parents' fear of the government indoctrinating their kids. Throughout the book, Tara deals with the split in her identity when she's around her family versus the rest of society. From not having a high school diploma to attending Cambridge University, the reader follows Tara's journey through education.
I enjoyed this book a lot, and always looked forward to the next chapter. The author writes about her incredibly personal experiences in a way that makes them feel relatable to anyone. The amount of intensity and life she can breathe into a scene is truly remarkable. By the end of the book, the reader feels as if they've been with Tara on her journey every step of the way. I'd rate this book a 5/5.
