You ready for this creepy challenge?! Planned out your books for each week already?
As I understnad it, we can start reading for them now, provided we don't finish until 1 October! My witches line up includes one which I think will be aslow read, so I might start that now. The others I've picked are Pratchett, which I know will go fast.
I am struggling a bit with the Werewolf week - nothing pencilled in there at all yet :(

I'm just down for one a week, as especially the zombie one is going to be hard to fill (plus wheels will be happening and who knows what'll happen there. Oh wait, there are a few on this team that do, lol).
I've got my favourite King, The Talisman lined up for werewolves. It's been more than 20 years since I last read it, so here's hoping it holds up!

I picked out a few witchy books yesterday as contenders for week one . . . and that's as far as I made it into planning. I probably should start looking now at the rest of the weeks, especially because I get most of my books from the library and might have to contend with a hold list, but I am such a mood reader that I try not to plan books too much ahead of time.
I don't think I'll have too much trouble though aside from zombies. I can only think of one zombie book I have ever read! I mostly have only read romance the last few years and just started dabbling back into fantasy / supernatural / paranormal stuff recently, so I'm excited to re-broaden my horizons!

If anyone is stuck and wants a fun read, I recommend A Night in the Lonesome October. It has a character that fits each theme--witches, vampires, werewolves, the undead/zombie. I read it every year since it's Halloween-y but not gruesome, just fun.
Zeejane, the 1001 Books challenge sounds so cool! I'm trying to read more outside of my comfort zone and read more classics.

None of the books I have lined up for this challenge are on the list :D

(Guess I’ll just wait and see what my future team’s first word is so I know if I need to or not)

It was a quick read, if that helps Kaley!

I need to find a good witch book fast to start with. I'd love recommendations and will check out the few listed above.

Cat, you are going to have her believing that we are all mindless challenge junkies... oh wait, maybe we are. Carry on!

Haha the books I read per month from February-July during Uno/Tower Teams versus the books I read per month in this last month, for example…. VASTLY different 🤪

It's Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants and The Winter Witch, with the memoir ruminating on our need to connect at a personal level with the natural world, even seeing trees as entities not things which picks out Morgana's close connection with nature in a way that makes it more accessible to read. I tried to read the Winter Witch a while ago and couldn't get into it; this time, with Sweetgrass as a partner, I'm flying through it!

Yeah - there's a set of information you need to post during check in, set out in the first post there.

How are you liking it? I picked it as my October book from Book of the Month so I'm hoping it's good! And hoping it gets here in time to read it for the witches week...

It's a light second chance romance. I'm enjoying it so far. It has really a lot of romance though.

I liked it, it has a very good story with important themes.

Happy October and happy reading, everyone!

October is my favorite month.

that sounds interesting Kate. Schiff does narrative non-fiction typically, right? wearing the research light?

I loved that series back in the day. Been meaning to re-read for a decade and a half or so, lol.
