For our 2021 group reads, we will continue in the same vein with different choices each month. For October it will be Set overseas. Your mod team have chosen two books each, therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

Deadhead and Buried (English Cottage Garden Mysteries #1) by H.Y. Hanna Deadhead and Buried by H.Y. Hanna

City girl Poppy desperately wants to pay off her debts, quit her dead-end job, find her father… oh, and keep a plant alive. But she knows these are just hopeless dreams—until the day the letter arrives. Suddenly, Poppy is on a train heading deep into the English countryside, to collect a mysterious inheritance. And the last thing she expects to receive is a cottage garden nursery—complete with romantic climbing roses, fragrant herbs, a ginger cat with attitude… and a dead body.

A Dissection of Murder (Dr Dody McCleland, #1) by Felicity Young A Dissection of Murder by Felicity Young

A woman. A doctor. A beastly science.

At the turn of the twentieth century, London's political climate is in turmoil, as women fight for the right to vote. Dody McCleland has her own battles to fight. As England's first female autopsy surgeon, she must prove herself as she also proves that murder treats everyone equally...

A New York Secret (Daughters of New York, #1) by Ella Carey A New York Secret by Ella Carey

War forces her to choose a side…

1942, New York. As war rages in Europe, Lily Rose is grateful for her perfect life: a wealthy family who love her and a dream job working uptown as a restaurant chef. Times are changing for women and Lily is determined to run her own kitchen one day. She hopes handsome Tom Morelli, son of Sicilian immigrants, will be at her side. Together they work late, dreaming up delicious meals for New Yorkers struggling with wartime rationing and the threat of sons and sweethearts being called up…

The Lost Pearl by Emily Madden The Lost Pearl by Emily Madden

From Pearl Harbor to the shores of Sydney, a family secret that spans generations could unite a family – or destroy it.

Honolulu, Hawaii 1941. On the evening of her sixteenth birthday party, Catherine McGarrie wants nothing more than for the night to be over, even though the opulence of the ballroom befits the daughter of a US Navy Rear Admiral.
