We're debuting a new monthly deal to help you expand your Valancourt library at a low price. Each month we'll feature a set of heavily discounted paperbacks centered on an author or theme. This month we're featuring Michael Frayn, who turns 88 this month. Even if you haven't read his work, you almost certainly know it: his play Noises Off is one of the most popular 20th-century comedic plays and has also been filmed. More recently, his past three novels have all been nominated for the Booker Prize. This month we're offering his classic first five novels for just $10 each (save over 35%, $50 for the set, plus $5 shipping).

description

The Tin Men (1965), winner of the Somerset Maugham Award, is a hilarious comedy of errors about a group of computer programmers in the early days of computing. The Russian Interpreter (1966), which won the Hawthornden Prize, is a cozy thriller about an English student in Soviet Moscow who gets caught up in a dangerous game of espionage. Towards the End of the Morning (1967), long recognized as a classic, is a laugh-out-loud funny story of reporters in the waning days of London's Fleet Street. A Very Private Life (1968) is a dystopian novel about a future world in which humans live isolated from one another, heavily medicated and continually entertained by virtual reality programming. And Sweet Dreams (1973) is a satirical novel of Heaven, as seen through the eyes of Howard Baker, a newly-dead, perfectly ordinary middle-class man.

All five books strike a perfect balance, being intelligent and thought-provoking but also extremely funny and readable. Please note these are available in the U.S. only due to rights restrictions.
