What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

So my memory of the start of the story is really vague. It was very cliché start boy grows up on a farm and learns that he has some great destiny. Some incident happens I think the farm was raided and destroyed and that forces the plot moving with boy leaving the farm. I believe the book was a series of some books, no idea how many or if it even had more than one book.

Next lines might have some spoilers in it. Story revolves around the boy becoming a king and in the throne room, where he's supposed to rule, on the wall lies a stone that kind of corresponds to main characters feelings by changing colors (Spoiler), like at the end on his wedding night it turns pink.

Main character was traveling with and older woman, not his mother or anything, there might have been someone else can't remember. He was supposed to destroy some generic evil god or something the like. His love interest was young girl with red hair, She might have been elf or at least from what I remember she lived in a forest based setting. She was angry that she had been promised to marry the new king, but she likes the main character. Still she's a little pissed off when she finds out the main character is the new king.

The older woman he travels with also was some kind of important person in the world.

I read the book around 2010. But given the story and how it was written I think the book was older at least from 90s or even older. I believe the original version of the book was in English.
