With this one - I would actually start with Power Play and read straight through the BTU Alumni series.
Both her UofJ series and her Royals series are spin offs of BTU with main characters from BTU playing into UofJ in cameos and in side characters.
But in order to understand the full Maddey/Dex story in Writing Dirty you need to immerse yourself in the world of the Covenettes - which is 100% BTU.
It's so worth it though!

Task 9 - 49. Each teammate reads a book published in the same month and year, teams decide. No pass for this task..

Perfect. I'm taking note. Thanks Maggie!

Review: I gobbled up this book! This was my third read over a few years. A top fave as well as one of my top book boyfriend, the magic in this book. Texas millionaire Jack Travis lives a life without complications - business, women, family - until he meets Ella Harper who drops by to find out if he's the father of her baby nephew. Whoa...but Jack doesn't bat an eye, believes he isn't, and begins to subtly take care of Ella & the baby, slowly seducing her with his charm, kindness, encouragement and hot times in bed. Oh yeah, and there's a parking garage scene not to be missed.
(and he gets up in the night to take care of baby Luke - gah!)

Review: I thought this was a pretty good ending to the series. I think book 2 was my favorite out of them all, although West was my favorite by far in this one. What he wouldn't do for his Blue. I loved seeing more into his life outside of his father and his evil reign. There was angst, mystery and hot sexy times. I loved how we got to see West, Blue, Ricky and Pandora's pov in this book.
I hope to read Dane's book very, very soon!! I'm not ready to live this world just yet.

Review: This one was a fun and fluffy read. Although the author did write a shy yet stubborn female MC. Elaine (Laney) Carter is a woman on a mission to cure cancer. Her committed relationship to her work is so great, it's the one thing that saves her from being home when her NYC apartment building catches fire and is demolished. Then her Billionaire Best Friend comes in. Oliver was the golden boy of the prep school they attended as high school students. Laney as a scholarship kid, Oliver as a the Prom King Football King set to conquer the world of real estate because his dad is a tycoon King. And... of course he has the string of meaningless hook ups with women to prove it. And of course - Laney has been in love with him since he stepped foot into the principals office that first day of school. And Oliver never knew. Very ugly duckling, nerdy best friend turns to hot looking STEM woman into "Love of my life". Compete with the whole Pretty Woman "huge mistake HUGE" sort of scene in there.
I'm not really doing this book justice - it's my own mental state. The writing is fun, punny, and the characters are quirky.
There are some editing issues that need to be addressed (like three key sentences which seem to have gone missing in a sexy times scene LOL). The side characters add to the plot while helping to move it along. Some chapters and characters were rushed. Such as Laney's dad, her mom, and her extended family. They were all mentioned and given character traits...but then they just *poofed* I kept wanting to know WHY her dad's sister hated Laney's mom and WHY that sister was also crazy as a bat. Oliver's parents are nebulous beings that obviously know of Laney, and Oliver's younger brother is heavily featured in the story.. as he should be. However, for a Dad who is a CEO of a multi billion dollar international real estate kingdom - the man doesn't even get a proper NAME in the book. That's just ... odd. The high school friend starts off the book as being a weird old man, and by the end of it, he's a buddy "from the old days" of high school and knows Laney as well as the Billionaire and the brother do. Laney's best friend is what I would like to imagine you would get if you put Aretha Franklin and Kelly Clarkson into Zendaya's body. Lisa is all the "GURRRRLLLLLLLL" and very pro self confidence, pro Laney, and pushing Laney for what is right for Laney. These three main side characters appear just enough that I'm hoping this is series at some point as any of their stories would be an immediate beach/snow day/vacation day read for me. This book is a solid 3 star read with a predictable plot line, however the excerpt from another of the author's novels read well, so I've added that to my TBR. And this one is a book I'd reach for again for a fun and light read. Not bad and honestly, for all my whinging, really what I needed from a book this week.

Oh no! Are you okay? Do NOT worry about us or this challenge at all. Please please please take care of yourself!

Oh no, please take care. How scary! Hope things are better. Hugs!!
I agree with Maggie - please take the time for you and not this challenge.

ShanA, Hope things are going in the right direction. Take care.

It made us feel good to know everyone cared, but in my mind I was going to be reading for 4-5 hours straight with no interruptions.

Very glad to hear that surgery went well. And that you have great support around you. LOL, that you're still trying to read through all that. Hang in there. :)

Review: Holland Evans and Sutton Barnes.
First off, if you don't know, Holland is the sister of Dean Evans from the first book in the Roommate Romps series.
Anyway, Holland and Sutton go way back. They were rivals throughout most of their acquaintance, until they were more. Sutton screwed the pouch and now they are bitter rivals again.
They says it's a thin line between love and hate, and that saying definitely holds true for these two. What they haven't realized is that nobody knows how to push your buttons better than a person who knows and cared about you once or still.
This was funny at times and sexy at times. As with all the books in this series there is love from family and friends and then they one person you didn't know you were missing.

Task 11 - 36. Read 6 books with animals on the cover.
Books selected for this task need to have an animal on the cover, real or mythical. Any edition’s cover can be used to qualify. Please include the qualifying cover in your completion posts. Shifters count, but must be in animal form on the cover. The depiction on the cover needs to represent the actual animal - so a dragon on the cover works, a statue of a dragon does not.

Review: This debut novel is about Evelyn who despite hard work in school and as a NY lawyer - even switching to become the CEO's EA - hasn't found her niche in work or life. She's asked to accompany her boss to work in Montana and while there, stay at his family's beautiful ranch with his mom,🔥gorgeous cowboy brother Jack🔥, and three hot ranch hands. Well, she's in heaven having coffee with the guys every morning, working, riding, hiking, bonfire drinking and pining for grumpy brother Jack - who just grunts she's a city girl. As the weeks go by, gorgeous Jack begins to see E's qualities and seeks her out to explore the ranch and to work with him to horse whisper an abused horse to health. Great slow burn between those two - oh yea Jack was awesome. A real bonus was seeing Evelyn generally break out & have more colour in her world and bask in her new sense of belonging on the ranch and with Jack, her new friends - and future family.

Review: This is one of those underrated, underestimated books. Poor promo - cover & title. The two MCs, Vicky, a jewelry artist & Henry, CEO of a family development & architectural firm are fantastic. Layers & lovely complexities to both of them. Henry's mother has willed her majority shares to her dog, Smuckers, with Vicky as his guardian and voice on the firm's board. Henry is livid, and becomes a mean - but really sexy LOL- enemy, sparring with Vicky until they discover their mutual passion for design & architecture. There are wonderful steamy twists & turns in their story, great chemistry, and Henry is definitely a standout book boyfriend. Recommend.

This one was one that I liked reading, and I enjoyed the writing, but I felt that the author could have written a better male character. Wyatt was very " I know what's right because I'm an older brother and I have sisters" and rushing in to save the day sort of guy. He also uses the "She's stubborn" line overmuch when it's him just not listening. The female characters are dead on and the sort that I enjoy reading. Realistic ladies who have had their share of life even in their mid twenties. Losing parents early, dealing with older or younger siblings, family expectations, small town issues, business stress, making it on your own, juggling your wants vs business needs vs society yadda yadda. None of them are overly dramatic or poorly written. The plot stayed on track without any holes or gaps. Teen tech genuis (Wyatt) sells a few apps, makes millions, turns his analytical brain to repairing failing businesses - with the catch that he remain a partner, co owner, or have some say in the business. Smart, savvy, and on point for an investor in a business that's floundering. He's just so convinced that he is right and he never strays from that path. I would have liked someone to have shaken him up a little bit. One of Sydney's brothers, or even better - Harper's grandmother "The General". Sadly, the author let him have his way with her story and Wyatt did wind up being right about Sydney's failing small town business in the end. Even if he wasn't the one to save it and Syd did it on her own. Which is annoying to me just in principal. The side characters are fun, individuals and there are some that are mentioned but don't play a huge role in the story which means they have potential to pop in later in the series. I'm also annoyed that this series isn't' in KU. I'm intrigued enough that I'll pop it on a "fun filler read" as the author isn't selling her storylines short and she's writing women who are realistic, but her guys are grating. It was perfect for what I needed today. A fun read in the sun and to turn my brain off.

M - PUMPKINS!! How fun!
I need to get ours either tomorrow or Tuesday.
My sister usually does a huge set up at my parents, and we'll have a huge family carving day. I need to check in to see if we can do that on Friday or Saturday. Her work schedule has been crazy.
I honestly have lost track of what day/date it is and need to get my rear in gear.
The closest I've gotten into our Halloween planning was sitting on the couch watching Hocus Pocus with the boyo this evening before dinner.
Now I have this huge urge to drive up to Salem LOL

Review: A good start to a new series. Sunshine Vicram is no Charlie Davidson, but I like her anyway. She has a lane of her own.
Sunshine moves back home with her daughter, Aurora, after winning an election for sheriff that she didn't even enter.
Sunshine has the first days of all first days on her job as the new sheriff of Del Sol, New Mexico, and so does Auri in her new school.
There is so much going on throughout this story, that I honestly don't know how to tell you much without giving anything away. I will say that I loved the relationship between Sunshine and Aurora, plus her parents.
There is the main story of finding a missing girl, but also the story of what really happened to Sunshine years ago.
I can't figure out if this is going to be of the paranormal variety or if those elements aren't going to be focused on at all.
As usual, Darynda Jones did a good job of pulling this reader into another of her worlds.

Review - I adored Blake Riley! He was Wes' teammate from US.
Blake was fun and his one liners were the best. He and Jamie's sister Jessie had one hot random night together.
Jessie is now planning Wes and Jamie's wedding and can't seem to get Blake out of her mind - he's everywhere! He makes it hard for her to forget because he won't let her. He wants a repeat and wants to get her on board. This was a sweet and funny read. I loved it! The only thing was I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. I wanted more of an epilogue, especially because I loved them so much.

Review: I loved this book! The idea of the virtual personal assistant business was amazing (Sort of hoping that Jenny and Thomas have a book down the line) but the idea of Hailey sharing the business with her ex husband, but still best friend since childhood was genius. I also loved Matt's character. How this large, looming, physical presence on the ice and as a professional athlete at the peak of his game and respected by his teammates and their families could be reduced to feeling so very small by his own ex wife. It killed me inside. Not gonna lie - I REALLY hate Kara. But - I'm going to assume she saw the error in her ways, realized the girls need her, Matt AND Hailey in their lives and she seeks counseling for her control issues so she can loosen up and enjoy life.
I loved seeing Hailey's character start to open up and become stronger over the course of the book. How she went from seeing Matt as this hockey great god of the ice to just this guy who doesn't think he's worthy of love or companionship. It helped center her and gave her something to focus on so her spunky side came shining out.
Again, I'm a huge fan of the women in her own business doing her own thing and sticking with it no matter who her life partner is. I'm also a fan of characters regardless of their gender owning their mistakes, their growths, and their accomplishments. Jackson recognizing that he and Hailey are great friends, and great in business together, but not great as a married couple - that takes it's own kind of quiet courage and guts. I enjoyed seeing Jackson not being the quiet doormat that Hailey was afraid he was. Seeing him stand up for her and speak out for her really endeared me to his character.
As always Sarina Bowen just writes an story that gives you all the feels from the highs and the lows of being human and reminding you that no matter what you do in for your day job, everyone goes home and wants the same things from life - love, a snuggle partner, and a place they belong. I really liked this pairing with Elle Kennedy. I've only read a few of her books, however she is sitting on my TBR and I found (thanks to this read) that my library has the bulk of her back library available to borrow....guess I know who I'll be binging this winter when the snows finally hit.
So glad I picked up this book! It had one of those GOOD but not forced happy endings. I feel okay with putting the book down and walking away.

With covid I made a lot of new virtual GR friends from around the world. I tell my husband about them - such diversity, different ideas on love & sex, & sometimes about the stories (those ridiculous monster love books I'm moderating this month). Coming back from the cottage on Sunday he wanted to talk about all that. Huh.
