Megan | 1025 comments Yeah should have guessed it was bad when someone else's review was bad as well. Oh well i'll avoid that author next time

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments Well, I certainly won't put that one on my list, Megan. Sorry you didn't read a good one.

Mine is really good so far.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments Task 0: Each teammate reads a book initially published in a fall month, teams decide which month: September

Lieutenant (Governor Trilogy, #2) by Lesli Richardson
Book/cover link: Lieutenant Lesli Richardson
Pages: 282/GR (kindle ed.)
How book fits: Pub. 9/5/18
Date Completed: 9/23/21
Rating/Review: 5 stars - This is a continuation of the story following the first book. Owen is now Governor and Susa, Lieutenant Governor. We learn a lot more of how their relationship with Carter started in college, Carter and Susa's marriage and more of their life with Owen. There is a huge surprise in this book which is handled so well affecting all three of the main characters. I can't wait to get to the next book about Carter.

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Hey all, I’ve sent Laura a pm, but haven’t heard back from her yet. I hope everything is ok since it’s really not like her to not check in. I’m good with waiting for her, but I wanted to check with you guys and see how you feel about it?

message 55: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1025 comments I'm fine with waiting. I think she was concerned about her reading being down. I guess shes less talkative because of her new job?

message 56: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments I'm fine with waiting too. Hope she's okay.

Ok, cool. I hope she’s ok too. Hopefully it’s just her being super busy and we’ll hear from her soon.

message 58: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Hey so Laura replied, she’s ok just super busy with her jobs and family stuff. She said she’ll try to pop in here today or tomorrow.

message 59: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Hi everyone! I'm sorry for being so much less chatty. Real life has me swamped.
I'm trying to finish my book off tonight or tomorrow night after work. I really didn't think I would be this long reading a book or I would have definitely rethought this challenge.
If you guys don't want to wait this long for me to finish I don't mind withdrawing but if you don't mind waiting then I'd like to stay. Either work for me.

message 60: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments Glad you're okay, Laura. Real life can do that. I'm fine with waiting. I have plenty of books to read and I'm in 3 other challenges which are definitely keeping me busy.

message 61: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Yes same here Laura, I’m happy to wait. 😊

message 62: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I didn't finish last night but I did make some progress and I'm hoping to finish it off tonight.

message 63: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I fell asleep last night before I could finish my book but I am determined to finish tonight before bedtime

message 64: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments I feel bad about letting you guys down. I have 38 mins left in my book that I will finish tonight while I roast my chicken!

message 65: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1025 comments No worries Laura. I'm drowning in the books I need to finish for all my other challenges. Going to scale it back for October I think.

message 66: by Karen ♐ (new)

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments You're helping me get caught up in my other challenges, Laura!

message 67: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1868 comments I'm right there with Megan and Karen Laura. I've got a couple of huge fantasy books I'm reading as well as a few other challenges going on, so it's all good! 😊

Laura | 2514 comments Task 0: Each teammate reads a book initially published in a fall month, teams decide which month: September

Right Behind Her (Bree Taggert, #4) by Melinda Leigh
read: Sep 29
pages: 315 kindle edition
fits: published September 14, 2021
rating/review: 4 stars
Another great book in this series. Bree finally lets Matt in and their relationship which has been simmering the last few books finally explodes! Bree is such an interesting character she is dealing with her past, raising her niece and nephew and is the new sheriff... basically she is kick ass. Mystery was good with bits of action thrown in. I can't wait for the next book.

She just turned 10 a couple weeks ago. In fourth grade this year. I can’t believe how fast she’s growing up. She’s almost taller than me already!

ahh, sweet! Kids grow so fast. I remember when my girl was 10. 16 happens very fast!!!
Your height comment makes me think of when my son couldn't wait to pass me in height. It happened very quickly! My daughter is also taller than me. ( As you can tell I 'm not very tall.... 5"0.)

message 77: by Karen ♐ (new)

message 78: by AliciaJ (new)

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Yep, exactly how it is in my family. I'm the shortest at 5'4", in a family of giants going from 5'8" up to 6'4". It sucks when everything is all set up for the tall people in the house too. Ugh.

message 79: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2514 comments Blah, of course I'd have to be the shortest!
Megan....??? Whatcha got?

Sorry I'm 5'5, think that makes me the tallest here but not sure that says much haha! Husband is 6"3 and his daughter is going to tower over me. Shes 8 and shes already above my shoulders :(. Any kids I have I think will be the same.

Laura | 2514 comments Task 2 - 4. Read 4 books tagged/shelved as PNR or fantasy.

Faithless in Death (In Death, #52) by J.D. Robb
read: Oct 2
pages: 383 kindle edition
fits: tagged fantasy by 10 ppl, pg 1, middle column
rating/review: 4 stars
Reading a book from the In Death series is always comfort and this one didn't disappoint. Eve wraps this one up tidily as she always does. Graphic and horrific events but justice, truth, friendship and love shine through. A solid 4 star read!

Book/cover link: A Veiled & Hallowed Eve A Veiled & Hallowed Eve (Soulbound #7) by Hailey Turner
Pages: 485/GR (kindle ed.)
How book fits: MPG Fantasy
Date Completed: 10/3
Rating/Review: 5 stars
Oh wow, I am so very sad that this is the last story in this amazing series, but absolutely happy and satisfied with what a superb ending it was. We may have to go through all of the agony and fear the characters experience as they fight to keep the world from ending, but the author makes up for it with the absolutely wonderful way she ties it all up in the end. It was just perfect, absolutely perfect.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 2045 comments Task 2: 4. Read 4 books tagged/shelved as PNR or fantasy

Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts
Book/cover link: Midnight Bayou Nora Roberts
Pages: 378/GR (kindle ed.)
How book fits: Pub. MPG Paranormal
Date Completed: 10/3
Rating/Review: 5 stars - Paranormal isn't a genre I normally read but this book had everything. Declan is from Boston but moves to New Orleans, buys this old house with the idea of renovating it. He meets Lena, who owns a local bar. While Declan is starting to renovate, he is entranced by what seems to be ghosts. Lena is able to shed light on some of what happened years before in the house. This book was so good. I didn't want to put it down. There were a few twists and turns that I loved.
