1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.

What author should we choose?

message 3: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments Okay, I took a look at both of your 5-star books. How about one of these authors:

Kristen Ashley
Suzanne Wright
Lucy Score
LJ Shen
Kylie Scott
Lauren Blakely
Kate Canterbary

message 4: by ♏Vanessa♏ (new)

♏Vanessa♏ | 94 comments Kristen Ashley
Suzanne Wright
Lucy Score
Kathryn Moon
TL Swan
KA Knight
Q.B. Tyler
Tiffany Roberts
Sophie Lark

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments Van - some on your list are new to me. But I'm happy to go with any of them. If I had to choose I'd go with Lucy Score.

She is always a fun choice. leave the other ones for another task.

message 7: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments Lucy Score - the only one on your list I've read, Vanessa
*Jennifer L. Armentrout
*Brittainy C. Cherry
Kelley Armstrong
J. Bengtsson
Jay Crownover
Kendra Elliot
*Amy Harmon
*Ruta Sepetys
*Kristin Hannah
Brigid Kemmerer

It's so hard to say who's my "favorite" since it depends on genre, but the ones with asterisks I can count on. And I am open to new authors, of course.

message 8: by Darkness (new)

Darkness (darknessofheart) | 69 comments I am fine with Lucy Score.
Other option I fine with : Q.B. Tyler, Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sophie Lark and LJ Shen

message 9: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments Okay. Lucy Score it is.

Darkness (darknessofheart) | 69 comments 1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.

It's the same prompt just different?? Are we going for Lucy Score for all of them or ??

message 11: by April (new)

April Raimond | 215 comments Mod
In the past we have chosen different authors. But if y’all want to do just one for all tasks that’s ok. Whatever y’all decide.

I agree with different authors. Maybe we choose 3 and they go in order?

message 14: by ♏Vanessa♏ (last edited Apr 11, 2024 06:29PM) (new)

♏Vanessa♏ | 94 comments I'm all for Jennifer L Armentrout too. love her books and many are free on audible.
Can also go with LJ Shen too.
any other recs are also welcomed.

message 15: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments I like the idea of picking 3 authors and going down the list in order.

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments Would JLA's books be a problem because of their length?

message 17: by ♏Vanessa♏ (new)

♏Vanessa♏ | 94 comments Heather wrote: "Would JLA's books be a problem because of their length?"

ups, yeah they are super long. maybe someone else.

message 18: by ♏Vanessa♏ (new)

♏Vanessa♏ | 94 comments I'm good with any author from Heather's and Darkness' lists, but only know 2 from Vicki's (Kendra Elliot and Jennifer).

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments I think there are enough votes to put LJ Shen on the list. J Bengtsson is another one who i think most folks might like. She writes contemporary romance about musicians.

Or maybe Brittainy C Cherry?

I'm good with that, she is on ku.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments I went to the first Book Bonanza that Colleen Hoover put on in 2018 in Colorado and had the opportunity to meet, among many other authors, Brittainy C. Cherry. I just love her. I was lucky enough to win that trip to Denver and Colleen paid for everything for 2 of us (I took my daughter who is also an English teacher) except our food. It was amazing!

message 23: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments What an amazing trip!

message 24: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments Yes, and I did nothing other than post along with 1000's of others why I wanted to go. God only knows why I got picked but I was so happy and I was notified I won the trip ON MY BIRTHDAY! lol

My daughter saw it first and sent me a text asking if that was me...that VICKI EVANS was me? Then she said, "You'd better take me!" I had already planned to and told Colleen that in my short statement why I wanted to go.

Yes to LJ Shen and Brittainy C Cherry but no for J Bengtsson

message 28: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments Darkness, you don't like J Bengtsson? Just curious because I love her Cake series. BUT Brittainy is one of my favorite authors! Love her books and her!

It's not that I don't like her just don't have anything on my tbr by her. And my tbr is already big enough.

I like Bengtsson's new series too. Like the Wind is really sweet and funny.

But am perfectly happy to read B Cherry as our 2nd choice.

LOL I would never understand a "too big tbr shelf"!! :)

I was just curious. I would have to look, but I think the only thing of hers I've read is from her Cake series but I really liked it.

That looks like a good one, too. I didn't add it, but I probably will at some point. I'm 74 years old and if I live another 20 years (highly doubtful) I'd have to read 366.2 books every year. LOL I will never read all the books on that shelf, but in my defense a lot of them are on there from when I first joined and tried to "win" every giveaway and they all went to my TBR; shelf before I really realized how it worked. I need to go through and glean my shelves and dump the ones I know I won't ever get to but it takes so much time!

Mine too, but every time i watch tiktok, end up adding more to it. Plus the PIFM monthly always has new stuff too. So, it's hopeless. I just resigned myself to never have under 900 books in my tbr.

message 36: by ♏Vanessa♏ (new)

♏Vanessa♏ | 94 comments But nothing compares to Darkness over 4k tbr books.

Yes, TikTok is terrible for my tbr.

message 39: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments I don't have a TikTok so no problem there, but my TBR is 7,238. lol RIDICULOUS! But I can't help myself. lol

Question: Where will we see our first task posted?

If I recall correctly it'll be posted on our team page, because every team will get a different task. No 2 teams will be given the same task at the same time. I don't remember if the first task is the same for everyone or not.

message 41: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments Kat will post the challenge tomorrow at 6 pm EDT or possibly a little bit earlier. I believe she posts it in the Announcements thread.

FYI the first task is for everyone and historically she creates a task that isnt on the list. I've seen the task have to do with current happenings, and one time it had to do with her anniversary. For example, she might have one based on Monday's eclipse - maybe something like choosing between a dark or light book cover. The task usually has two options and each team must decide which option they will do.

message 42: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments We posted at the same time! 😛

message 43: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments Oh that’s great! I’m so excited to get started! My entire Floridian family will be here tomorrow all day, so I am hoping to get the task and find my book asap since we leave Sunday. Check out is at 10:00 but our flight isn’t until 4-ish. I hope I can access my book on the flight because for some reason sometimes even my downloaded ebooks and audiobooks won’t work. Like on my last flight, I couldn’t get the Wi-Fi on the plane and the flight attendant couldn’t get it either.. The only hardback book that I have with me is Family, Family. Fingers crossed!

That is great. Thank you for answering it.
Do you know which city is EDT?

great. i'm in the uk atm so time difference is 5hs. depending on the task and length of book I find I will finish by the morning.

message 47: by Darkness (new)

Darkness (darknessofheart) | 69 comments It's going to be midnight here but I don't work tomorrow so will be up till late anyway 🙃 😅 . I know the page doesn't mean anything here so will find something on the short side to read

message 48: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments At home it's a 3 hour difference (2 hours here in FL), so normally if she posts at 6:00 PM it'll be 3:00 at home, so plenty of time to finish my book either the same night or in the morning. When I watch my grandkids it's more difficult to get it done that same night because I have to be at their house by 4:30 AM, take 3 kids to school, then have the 4 year old with me all day. But I'll get them done as fast as possible.

message 49: by Heather (new)

Heather | 217 comments We basically have a day and a half after she gives us a task. She won't give another task until then, and it keeps us up with the front-runners if we stay on that schedule. So we'll get a task at 6pm on Saturday and can't get another task until Monday morning.

message 50: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 86 comments OK, totally doable!
