You Don’t Choose The Academy. The Academy Chooses You.

The Shadowkiller is back.

And he is hunting me down like a dog in the streets of New York City using every tool and ally he has—including people I once trusted.

I have never been so alone in my life, and yet if I turn to my friends that puts a target on their backs too. Which means I have to keep running.

So, I do what I know, and I set myself to finding the trail of breadcrumbs that will lead me to the one who is still pulling the strings.

Frost. A Chameleon just like me. Just like the Shadowkiller. Worse, she’s seeking out my friends to pick them off, one by one. To drain their lives in order to feed hers.

To stop her, I have to find her—a task easier said than done in a city this size.

What I don’t expect to find is a truth that this world and its secrets run far deeper, and far darker than I could have ever suspected.

But is any of that going to stop me?

Not a chance.

The alternating points of view add some depth and (even though I fear we are too far into the story for this series to really make amends for all the lacking information/worldbuilding) it makes the reading experience more likeable.

Above all, what... well, actually who troubles me at moment is Ethan. I mean, he has apparently changed sides again. I am not sure if it is true, but his character's lack of transparency is bothering me... it feels quite repetitive, doesn't it? (hide spoiler)]

The trip was amazing, I saw so many beautiful things and the weather mostly was really warm and sunny. I'm glad you're safe. :)

(view spoiler)[Yes! Ethan is like a leave in the wind, he's changing sides every minute. And it is repetitive, it feels a little like the author didn't have any other ideas to make drama, so she throws in a betrayal by Ethan. (hide spoiler)]

100 % (view spoiler)[That ending was intense, kinda. I have to say, I enjoyed this book way more than the last one. It was really fast paced and Wallys POV was a nice change from Wilds strange thoughts.

I'm at a point where I don't expect any sort of worldbuilding and just addapt to not knowing anything. :D This series still could be so much better if we just knew more about it. (hide spoiler)]

I hope you'll read the last book with me as well. I feel like buddy reading them makes the books more fun to read.

Knowing that he was under his father's compulsion, Ethan's behaviour makes more sense, but it's still annoying. As you said, this repetitiveness seems to suggest the author's lack of new ideas to add a bit of tension/drama.

But I fear it's not intentional that it's so funny... :D In some ways these books are so pretictable and the lack of originality and the repetitiveness only add to that. (hide spoiler)]

Hi Ta! Sorry for the 'disappearance' but my whole family (but me) got the flu and I had to care for three zombies XD

I liked this book far more than the last one. I think that alternating POVs really helped and added a bit of depth.
Nick's betrayal actually caught me off guard. I didn't get why he entered the prison separately but I didn't question this choice too much (maybe the crazy things that are happening in this series spoiled my judgement).

I am pretty resigned (just like you) to the fact that we will likely never get some more information/worldbuilding. I am afraid it's too late for expecting that.

They are not 100% recovered but they all feel better now (thank goodness!)

I can't believe we have arrived at the end of the series (I had to double-check it because I was pretty sure there were more books... wow, an entire series developed in the span of what? 3 weeks - give or take?)
I am pretty free for the next 2 weeks if it suits you :D

Right? I thought for sure there had to be more books, it feels like nothing happened at all and at the same time so much crazy stuff happened in that short span of time. :D
