I just started reading the Death of Wolverine (Charles Soule) and that’s keeping me occupied at the moment. Otherwise I’ve been borrowing a TON of books from ComiXology and really want to expand my taste and diversify my library.

Don't bother with all the other miniseries centered around this. They are terrible. Death of Wolverine was solid though. The same goes for Return of Wolverine. The Hunt for Wolverine books other than the Tom Taylor one are awful cash grabs that bring nothing to the story.

This was fantastic. It's got this Irish folktale vibe to it with some banging animation influenced art.

A queer romance set in the backdrop of psuedo World War II.

Kurtis Wiebe of Rat Queens fame does his best Saga impression and it turned out really good.

This is all about the art. Jon Davis-Hunt excels at drawing horror and that trend continues here. His creatures are always inventive and menacing.

This was crap. People in different time periods randomly find a cursed coin, get possessed and kill people. That's the story.

A politically charged haunted house story. Spirits lingering in an apartment building are fueled by hatred and racism.

The detective story gets lost in the need to tell of the racism and injustice Chinese immigrants went through in the 1930's.

A beautiful children's book about Mr. Grumpf. He's always grumpy but also always goes out of his way to help his neighbors as winter approaches.

Six depressing stories about sad clowns, each by a different artist.

Your standard 1950's tales of people murdering people and then getting what they deserve.

It's taken 3 books but the series finally seems to be headed somewhere.

This one is only going to be for Troy Nixey completists. Most of the stories are unfinished. They are the odds and ends of Nixey's career.

A tale set in an African fantasy world about a young outcast with special abilities.

A solid, fantasy story with African roots about a warrior queen in the area of Nigeria.

I thought this finished well, maybe the best of the trilogy.

This book is delightful. Three septuagenarians raising Hell in the French countryside.

A very straight forward story from Hickman which is the biggest surprise at all. There's quite a bit of humor too.

I checked out the first 6 issues of this Infinity comic and X-Men Unlimited. The vertical format is different but the artists make good use of the vertical scroll format. However, I can only get it to work properly on my iphone and not my ipad or through the browser on my computer.

The Western version of a sports Manga about soccer.

Two teenage best friends find a fairy who may be much more dangerous than she first appears.

Starts off as a diatribe against social media and the power we let influencers have over us. Devolves into some strange story full of body horror and fungal nightmares.

Ed Brubaker's ode to The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. It's too short though and only gets going when it ends.

Giving new meaning to the phrase, "I'm dying out there", Pryor Brice is a struggling comic until one day he gets in a car wreck and is declared dead for a few minutes. That's when a dead comedian does a ride-along back with Brice and Brice turns his career around.

Lady Sif and the original Valkyrie, Brunnhilde, take center stage as they work to uncover a mystery of what's happening to Asgardian souls when they die in this prose novel.

In a cyberpunk future Venezuela, two brothers grow up on opposite sides of the law.

After a nuclear war, the survivors who emerge from a bunker are Boy Scouts. Now 260 years in the future, the Boy Scouts are badass warriors living by their code of honor protecting those left in the badlands filled with mutated animals and Mad Max types. The story's great. The art is great. Seek this out.

DC's really trying to force Future State on us and I'm not impressed.

A Batman anthology from 14 different creative teams around the world. Each story takes place in the same country as its creators.

I would not call this a reimagining of Jessica Cruz as DC's book blurb details. The story has nothing to do with Green Lanterns or DC in general. It's a story about DACA and undocumented workers living in America with the main character renamed Jessica Cruz to presumably sell more copies.

This was surprisingly good considering it started as a gimmick to sell Fortnite codes.

Iron Fist fights a demon who causes all kinds of body horror to the attendees at Coney Island.

It was nice to see the Daughters of the Dragon return. There's some good banter. It all felt a bit disjointed though.

This 3rd collection of Ms. Tree stories actually collects her first appearances and should be read first if you want to read Ms. Tree's history in order. It's a fantastic look at modern day noir. Ms. Tree's a no-nonsense take charge private eye.

I love how these editions are collecting Chris Claremont's peak X-Men straight through. The first 3rd of this is his fantastic collaboration with John Byrne. Then original artist, Dave Cockrum, returns. The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past are the two most iconic stories in the X-men's iconic past.

Blue and Gold #3
Justice League: Last Ride #6
Strange Adventures #12
X-Men #4
Superman and the Authority #4

I've been working on the reading challenge books, wrapped up Spinning, A Gift for a Ghost, and Waves. Waves was definitely my favorite but Spinning was a super close second!

I liked how these stories had more variety than most of the EC collections. Shock SuspenStories each had 4 stories, a crime, science fiction, horror, and "shock" story that was typically a social commentary on things like racism.

Keanu Reeves wrote a comic book, an incredibly graphic and violent comic.

Fantomex of the X-Men gets his own prose novel.

The tragic (mostly self-inflicted) story of Bela Lugosi's rise and fall.

A very poor attempt to turn a prose novel into a comic.

The world's dumbest mom takes the world's safest car on a roadtrip with her 2 year old son getting into a horrible situation.

An adaptation of the book the new Netflix docu-series is based on about drug smuggling in Spain.

An anthology of Wonder Woman stories that came out as "digital first" during the pandemic.

Continues the recollection of Gail SImone's run as The Birds of Prey go international.

This is John Wick: Eternal Warrior.

I'm a sucker for these pulp inspired stories of monster hunting. This has something of a BPRD slant if it was run by a college for research expeditions.

I thought this 2nd volume was much better. It hit the ground running with all the teams in stories that had me interested.

Iron Fist gathers a team of heroes to fight zombie ninjas across the world.

Only in a Grant Morrison book can you have Santa Klaus and a Snowman preventing Ragnarok from occurring while traveling through space. This story was 10 tons of crazy and I loved it.

Two evergreen JL stories with the team pulling a Star Trek floating around in space helping aliens.

This is a sidequest of Death Metal where Nightwing teams up with Hawkgirl, Detective Chimp, Cyborg, Starfire and Lex Luthor to free the Legion of Doom from Perpetua's throne.

It's no Saga, but it's a capable fill-in until Saga comes back next year. The vibrant colors and animation-influenced art really pops off the page.

Yes, it's another alternate reality X-Men story. It is done very well though.

This is one of those iconic Spider-Man stories, every Spidey fan should check out.

This is a disparate collection of things sort of related to Venom's origins.

Another one of those classic Spider-Man stories every Spidey fan should read.

Angel Medina's art is awful. The story isn't any better.

This was a lot of fun, especially for young children. Arkham has been reimagined as an apartment building owned by the Wayne family. Kid versions of Batman's rogues gallery live there, having fun.

Our illustrious IRS agent/spy Larry Max goes up against a female assassin who works by corrupting her targets and blackmailing them first.

This case ties in with IRS agent / spy, Larry Max's family history.

Larry Max goes after a long time enemy of his family who is trying to artificially inflate the price of oil through terrorism in Saudi Arabia.

A shock-jock cable TV host invites a medium on the show. He gets talked into channeling a spirit on air where he's taken over by the god Ba'al from the bible.

Closes out the story started in volume 1 as our hero gets his revenge on the men who killed his wife and daughter.

A psuedo-prequel to Desert Star. It's a story about the character who grants her name to the original story but never actually appears in that story. This wasn't very good.

Man, I hated this.

An adult fairy tale about a kind old woman whose momentary wish to have a child of her own sets off a series of horrible events that will threaten her world. John Bolton's art is stunning.

Four single issues focusing on a hero from Project: Superpowers along with a new villain.

If you wondered why there's a new mayor over in Tynion's Batman run, this arc explains how it happened. Most of this volume is setup for the events of Future State.

A habitual loser gets a ticket to the big time when a heavy hitter member of the Weavers gang is killed. He gains her powers from an alien spider along with a desire to protect the web.

A timeless anthology of Wonder Woman stories all written by women and for the most part drawn by them too.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program with a King in Black crossover. Thankfully, Jed Mackay is a talented writer and was able to give us a crossover that works within Black Cat's book too.

A middle grade graphic novel about a girl in 8th grade who discovers she's a werewolf.

Two park rangers come across some criminals and must flee through a dangerous cave system to escape their pursuers.

This was a very good start to a new fantasy series. A young prince returns home after three years away to find his kingdom overrun and his parents missing.

A very slow burning sapphic romance. Everything about this comic is slow burning. The story is almost non-existent. Maria Llovet's art is quite lovely.

I guess that means "Gift for a Ghost" was your least favorite!
I read that recently, and actually had to read it a second time to understand it. Really, only halfway understand it. Still, I liked it pretty well.
I read 2 volumes of The Sixth Gun, but it just isn't for me.
Edgar Allan Poe's Snifter of Blood worked better, especially the story by Mark Russell about Count Chocula. Maybe someday he will collect those stories and publish them separately.
I just finished Monumental: Oscar Dunn and His Radical Fight in Reconstruction Louisiana. I'm from Louisiana, and I don't think I was ever taught about him. (Though if we were, I would have likely forgotten.) New Orleans during reconstruction was a fascinating place, and Louisiana politics was, and still is, colorful. Great story, but I don't like the art, and the text is too small for my old eyes.
Working on Onion Skin by Edgar Camacho. This story of a fight between rival food truck vendors was popular in Mexico and has now been translated.

Reread (all great) Strangers in Paradise, Echo, Rachel Rising and Motor Girl, in anticipation of Five Years; but suddenly realized that I was missing a couple of extra SiP-volumes. Waiting to get them purchased I had a sidetrack of Dorohedoro vol 6-7 (messy but entertaining), Samurai 8 vol 1-2 (surprisingly bland), Bang! vol 1, (meh, just setup so far) and Seven to Eternity vol 1-4 (amazing art by Opena).
Finally back on Terry Moore!
4 volumes to go!
