This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

Kirsten (kmcripn) November, already???? That means it's almost time for us to vote for which books that haven't been released yet will win next year's Goodreads Choice Awards!

Kirsten (kmcripn) I hate to ask this question. I hope no one thinks I'm nitpicking. It may be nothing and feel free to ignore me.

Christine - why is there always so much white space in your lists?

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments I agree with you Kirsten and I agree with you Kirsten and I don’t think your nitpicking by asking that question Kirsten and it’s not a nothing question Kirsten and I won’t ignore you because you asked an important question Kirsten and that’s my fault Kirsten and I’m sorry Kirsten

Sophie | 1126 comments I can't believe how quickly this year has flown. Means we're on the home strait to Christmas!! I love this time of year, me and my daughter have firmly re-established our autumn weekend night routine - comfort dinners, candles, blankets, hot chocolate/tea and Strictly Come Dancing :)

That sounds lovely Sophie!! I just love the fall as well. It was thanksgiving weekend in Canada this weekend and was extra warm this year.

LOL Kirsten, so true. I don't think I will even have read one book in the running this year...

Sounds like a grand night in Sophie, my daughter & I used to do the same but she moved out just over a year ago so just me & my dog now.

Paige | 24 comments I just bought “Little Black Lies” by Sharon Bolton. I put it in my Kindle Library - I am kinda getting used to online reading :>)
Sounds like it will be a good book.

It's so crazy how fast this year is flying. It seems like just yesterday I was suffering because the air conditioner was broken and now I'm shivering when I get up in the mornings.

Kirsten (kmcripn) It sure looks like Guest List is in the lead for my November books. Did any of you guys read it? Was it good?

I did read it a couple months ago! It was a decent read for me, nothing too special. I find i often feel like that when I see a lot of "hype" for a book.

message 14: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I understand, Dana, that's how I am with the Ruth Ware books. Everyone seems to love them but I only find them so-so. On the other hand, there are so many of my favorite books that no one else gets into.

Lynds | ReadbyLynds (readbylynds) | 1 comments I just finished Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier! I really really enjoyed it!

Dana (dkmckelvey) | 623 comments Has anyone seen the Goodreads Choice Awards? I have only read one of them, and I am currently reading it now! Malibu Rising

Does anyone have any recommendations from the list? Any favorites that came out this year?

message 17: by Sue (new)

Sue | 131 comments I read ‘West with Giraffes’ and loved it so would recommend it. That’s the only book on the listings I’ve read though.

message 20: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis I just put up my list for December. I know it is towards the end of voting, but if you can please vote.
I am going to try to get back into my reading with the new year, but I thought I would start now to get a running head start. lol

I read The Guest List Kirsten and am looking forward to see what you think. I thought it was good. I really liked how the setting helped the mood of the book.

As far as the Choice Awards... I think I have read about 7 of them. I was bummed they took the picture book category away. I am a 2nd grade teacher and I always enjoyed that one (even though I never rate or add those books here on GoodReads).

Kirsten (kmcripn) Just finished The Guest List, I actually thought at one point it might go all (view spoiler) on me. I also really liked that it took so long for me to figure out who was getting killed. Excellent read!

They took away the write-in and I think they took away one of the rounds.

that is too bad Vicki, I never noticed that! Now that I have a little reader it would be a nice way for me to see what's a hit.

message 24: by Sue (new)

Sue | 131 comments I’ve read both my November choices. The Lost was really good & I would read more in the series, didn’t see the end coming. The Other People was ok, suspense was good but I really didn’t like the mystical element at the end so only a 3 star really
