Rosie | 9 comments Hello All:

Help please ...

After recently posting two book reviews on Amazon within the same week, I've noticed that there was a countdown after my review was submitted.

It reads: Review Your Purchases and underneath that heading it shows the number 4 (inside a partial circle) on the left and to the immediate right, it has the number 3 with text next to it that reads: 3 left to go.

Yesterday, I contacted Amazon CS via chat, but it kept kicking me off chat when I was in the process of sending a screenshot that they requested. The third agent claimed they couldn't receive external emails and suggested I contact [email protected], but I decided to post on GR for now.

Has anyone in this group seen this countdown? Are there only a certain number of reviews that can be submitted per month? There is zero explanation on the site regarding this countdown.

I read a lot of ARCs (from Netgalley and other sources) and write reviews, but not nearly enough to warrant IMO this kind of action. All my ARC reviews are labeled as such in my reviews.

All replies are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Diana Brown I have not seen a count. For several years I have not been able to post reviews on Amazon because I don't purchase enough from them. I use Kobo and only buy the occasional book from Amazon. Because some of my Netgalley books are not available through Kobo, I only have Goodreads to post them

Thanks Diana. I don't buy a lot of books these days because of my KU Subscription.

Sarah | 69 comments I am trying to find what you are talking about- I stumbled across a page that says: "If you rate 7 products in a row, we'll tell you a joke." Could you be counting down to a joke? I know this sounds bizarre but I swear thats what it says.

My only other thought is that I know you have to spend a certain amount of money with Amazon in a Calendar year for review privileges, it's possible they are limiting the number of non-Amazon book purchases you are able to review that weren't purchased direct from Amazon.

Sarah | 69 comments I just tried submitting a review (the caveat here being that I did actually use an Audible credit for the book I reviewed). The countdown number is definitely in reference to the joke. It now has the picture of a partially filled circle with a 1 next to it, a 6 on the other side and a caption saying: "Great start! Now do 6 more."

I'm cracking up. Not sure why Amazon thinks this is incentive to submit reviews.

Sarah | 69 comments Here is the joke I got:

Why haven't aliens visited our solar system?

(view spoiler)

Okay, I'll stop now, lol.

Rosie | 9 comments Hi Sarah:

Thanks so much 😀 for solving the mystery that I don’t think is funny. I wasted my time and the time of the Chat Rep. I even Googled the situation to no avail. Surely, they have better things to do at AMZ than to stump their customers. Wow. Just wow. I should have come to GR yesterday. Lesson learned. Again—thank you. 😁

Sarah | 69 comments No worries. Glad I could help!

Carolyn | 92 comments I'm disappointed. I posted seven reviews and got the same joke about aliens. I hope they've got a few more up their sleeve!

Donna Davis (seattlebookmama) | 143 comments This is weird as hell. I haven't encountered this issue at all. Is this occurring for reviewers inside the U.S.? I published a review earlier this week and received the usual thank you email that lets me know it's live, so I can hustle back to NG to provide my link.

Vivienne (vivienneor) It weird. I asked the same question n the other NetGalley group a short while ago . Amazon U.K. Help advised that it was to encourage reviews and indeed when it reached 7/7 I got a joke and it reset….

So not a weekly limit…phew
