This is a discussion post for quotes, moments, plot thoughts, and overall just things to discuss and talk about my favorite book because I will never get enough of it.

(Possible spoiler?) Did anyone else not like Achilles? I loved the book, Patroclus and Briseis but I just never forgave him.

Connor McKenna I was not big at all on how she portrayed Achilles. I much prefer the Homeric version, my favourite non-Homer portrayal is Ransom.

okay so i read the book. I LOVED IT. it was amazing i sobbed and laughed and enjoyed every bit of it. and towards the end when you realize that the entire book is basically Patroclus narrating memories to Thetis OMG boy did i sob like a baby.
"have you no memories?"
-"I am made of memories"

Based on other reviews I think I'm the only one, but I could not stand Briseis. At first I really enjoyed what she added to the dynamic, but the moment she revealed her interest in Patroclus she went downhill for me. The fact that she kissed him and thought they could have a relationship alongside his with Achilles just proved how little she understood Patroclus and his relationship. I don't agree at all with Achilles' indifference toward what his actions meant for her, but it put Patroclus' actions in a position that seemed to favor her over Achilles and not just being more morally sound.

I definitely think Achilles needed to be knocked down a few notches but it needed to come from someone other than her. Preferably Patroclus, but after his death anyone but her. Her trying to act like her feelings for him were more selfless and pure than Achille's ruined her for me. I applaud how she went out, but I still couldn't stand her.

I finished the book at 3 AM and cried for an hour, and the next morning my eyes were so swollen. This is such a lovely book, and I recommend it to everyone. I love Patroclus, he's such a wonderful person, and obviously I ship him with Achilles. Also OMG I hate Agamemnon and Pyrrus. My feelings for Breseis and Diomedes is neutral, and I STAN Odysseus.

(Spoilers) The main thing I loved most about this book was the writing. To me it was just so beautiful, and the way the characters and scenes were described gave me almost perfect images.

I didn't really cry at the end of this book as many people say they had. . . well, I did cry. A bit. When the mother to Patroclus to go with Achilles in the end, I sobbed for a good few minutes.

This book will always have a place in my heart.
