Katie Pham “They Both Die at the End” by Adam Silvera is about two characters—Mateo and Rufus—who are notified that their lives will end in the next twenty-four hours. They end up meeting each other through the Last Friend app and decide to spend their last hours living their lives to the fullest. Through new experiences and many close-calls, a strong relationship forms between the two, creating a truly unforgettable day. This story is both devastating and sweet as it deals with loss, hope, love, adventure, and the power of friendship.

This book was highly recommended to me by my friends and people on Tik Tok. Many reviews expressed how sad it is and how it caused them all to cry. Because of this, I went into the book with high expectations. After reading the book, however, I was a little disappointed because I didn’t actually cry. There were moments that were sad, but they weren’t as sob-worthy as I expected. This was probably because they were usually predictable and, in my opinion, more sweet than truly sad. Nevertheless, this book isn’t something that I typically read, but it was a good, quick read. So, I would recommend this to people who enjoy reading contemporary love stories.
