Also thanks for the German list Hilde! There's definitely noticeable overlap with the French list, so it will be interesting to count how many new boo..."
AHH! My bad, Leni lol. Apologies to you and Hilde for my Scandinavian name based Oopsie-daisey XD
I had that problem with the French list too in that some of the names were written slightly differently than on the English list.
Would someone like to volunteer to put a list together of the combined international list and call it the international list. We won't add it to the the one we're all working off of but we'll figure out how to do some challenges or something with it.

I really like the TBR Takedown game. I also like the randomized lists, though I didn't get to mine really this year yet.
I still have not gotten used to the different points for different lengths of books, and found the points system really confusing this year. I love the idea of getting more points for War & Peace than for a Muriel Spark novella, but I guess I am not used to the new points structure just yet.
I only fluently read English, though I can limp through short stories in a couple other languages. I am closest to being able to read in German, French, and Spanish, and really ought to practice my Russian and Italian before I forget all the words I used to know.

I thought it was on the English list, too, for the longest time. It really should be.

I am fluent in Norwegian and English. Like Leni said above, this means I can also read in Danish and possibly Swedish (if the language is not to difficult). Some knowledge in German and Spanish, but not enough to read a whole book without giving me a headache. Much prefer to read in Norwegian if I have a choice.

Haha, no worries. But I cannot take credit for the German listings, only the Norwegian additions.

Bare hyggelig. I have only read Jonas myself by Bjørneboe, and that was years ago. Really should read this trilogy. One day ;)

Just found out about something that a reader does over on LItsy that would be a possible alternative for TBR takedown.
A person puts together a list every month of 20 books they would like to read and then the randomized is spinned for a number. With this option you would be free to change up your list every month. It's just an idea and I think I am going to use it to pound away at my other TBR books that are languishing on my shelves.

This is an interesting idea. I think I would like that approach.

I see the appeal of changing up the list each month, because you can tailor it if you know next month will be extra busy etc. But I love putting together that list of 24 books and knowing that half of them will get read (and the other half will carry over to the following year).
If you are going to make it a monthly thing, can we at least keep it to 24 books so that those of us who prefer to can keep to the current way of doing TBR takedown and stick with the same list?

Poll will start tonight 10 Pacific time. Please vote. Here's the link. https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...

For me that's like The Year That Wasn't, but I'm still not sure I would like to re-live it.

Really? I am so bad at setting up polls.

Really? I am so bad at setting up polls.
I tried to set up a poll, is anyone able to find it? I always ask to show on how group page but it never does. I did a poll and I think 4 people have found it.

There is a major error in the BOTM list so I will need to reconfigure it. Sorry. I am surprised that no one noticed.
Leni wrote: "Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you, Kristel. The poll is there. I just found the year typo oddly amusing. 2020, of all years."
And it appears I can't fix it either. But you missed my other big error. Putting together the list of eligible monthly books is such a pain. Now I got to do it over.

I have enough trouble finding the harder books here and affording them, let alone understanding them. The fact most of the titles are not in English makes it even harder to judge whether I wanted to read them if I could get an English translation.

Not sure what you mean here. We're not currently voting for a BOTM? But if you want list help, I would be glad for the distraction. I have no desire to be a moderator or anything, but I'm happy to help out with anything involving lists!

Hi MaryAnn,
Sorry for the delay in response. As for points and BOTM voting, each person is limited to a max of 5 points so there is not unlimited points being thrown.
For the wish list books let me talk to the other two Admin and see what we can come up with.
Thank you for your patience.

1. Continue randomizer as is or suggested changes. (This is Books thing)
2. Continue Rules as they are or suggest changes?
3. Continue Bingo card?
We will continue TBR takedown and also try doing Bookspin. I am guessing that it will result in to many books to read for most of us but maybe some people will opt for one over the other. Will see how that turns out.
Any other suggestions, requests, etc?

2. I liked the rules and points as it was this year.
3. I did like the Bingo card as well, even though I have only managed to achieve one 'bingo'. I like it as a low stress challenge.

2. Like the general rules as is: really want the substitute for a past annual rule to stay since I have read the annual for this year and want to read Remembrance of Things Past for mucho points.
3. I'm down with continuing BINGO as is, I liked how double dipping with books from other challenges counted, it was fun fitting those to the BINGO

I have no real opinion on the rules, and I pretty much stopped keeping track of points except for my TBR Takedown and if I happened to read a Book of the Month choice.
As for Bingo, it sounded great at the beginning of the year, but it was another thing I pretty much just lost track of after the first few months. I guess I should go look at the list of prompts and see what I can fit in from what I did read this year.
Thanks so much for all of the work that each of the admins do. I am not great at participating, but I truly appreciate the discussions in this group that help me keep working on reading from the list.

Hi all,
Can we also do throw back 2021 to catch up with books not read last year due to Covid like we did for 2020. Not sure about other countries but we have been limited for about half the year with library service.

I have added new tabs on the spreadsheet for the non English language updates in this thread - I don't seem to have a French list of books have I missed it?
Only want books not on the main English edition.
