Yes, thanks Tania for the BL edition of Pin. I've also got a number of books in the poll that I'm keen to read and discuss.

See the previous page Jan. It's the same situation in the UK but apparently there's a new edition due out in mid November with, we hope, a cheap Kindle version

Hopefully the same applies in the US. It's not easy to find the new edition on Amazon UK. Tania offers some advice...

Search for "British library women writers" and it might be listed

Alwynne | 3514 comments The other titles in the series are showing up on US Amazon as available for Kindle, and all for Kindle Unltd or an average of 4 dollars to buy. The F. Tennyson Jesse isn't listed yet but seems no reason to suppose it won't be added soon, it's listed on UK Amazon just poorly cross referenced. And the Open Library version Kit mentioned should be available there, it's an offshoot of Archive.org which is an American site.

Tania | 1237 comments I'm sorry, I didn't consuder the US market, I think these books come out later there; however, US friends who couldn't wait have been ordering them from Blackwells who have free shipping, and it is also available free on Internet Archive.

Alwynne | 3514 comments I hadn't either Tania, when I bought my Virago copy it was really cheap but they seem to have massively increased in price recently. I suppose people reading about the new edition and wanting to get hold of it in advance? It also got a good write-up in Paris Review not long ago:

WndyJW I love Blackwells. Depending on publisher many titles are released in the UK months before they are published and released in US, or sometime I like the UK cover better. For some of my favorite indie press books I can still buy the book new, so publisher and author profit, but no shipping costs.

Alwynne | 3514 comments I use Blackwells a lot too, but funny about UK covers, I often replace UK copies of favourite books with US ones because the paper tends to be better quality!

The paper and the binding are reasons I often order US editions.

WndyJW I was just going to say Ang pointed that out before, I usually order UK books because I want them sooner, and sometimes for the cover. I want the Hamish-Hamilton covers of Ali Smith’s next book, so it matches the seasonal quartet Winter (Seasonal #2) by Ali Smith .

Looking forward to it, this has been a book I've been meaning to read for a long time.

And thanks Nigeyb for organising the poll, results and admin with your usual efficiency!

Thanks for the thanks

It's will be good to kick 2022 off with such a celebrated author

Tania | 1237 comments Sadly, although my library has some of his books, this isn't one of them. I've been meaning to try him though, so I'll try to get to him sooner rather than later.
