Erik Swanson (eas94) | 9 comments Hello, everyone. I’m a class of 2013 graduate from Blackstone Valley Vocational High School. I pursued manufacturing there from 2010-13 because I didn’t get in till my sophomore year. I’m still in the manufacturing field with working as a machinist, plus working at Home Depot, but have branched out into other interests and endeavors. Next week on Thursday I’ll be appearing as a guest on the TV talk and variety show “Topic Time” with the host, Harrison Blake Young, to promote my writing, literary work, and discussing other things as well. So please check it out in Easton, Mass at the time to be announced. Then catch it off of YouTube from the Easton Community Access Television and Topic Time website. All together, I have written four books within the past three years. One being the first to a sci-fi, fantasy, and adventure series “Tales Of Alandria Bridging Of Worlds” and the other three “Lost Case Encounters” “Corrections Mayhem” and “Among Altin” being sci-fi horror novels, first one being a collection of three short stories of my own.

Hi Vincent, Please "follow" and contact Auralee Arkinsly here: [email protected] for early reader children's books, Darling Hedgehog Goes Down a Foxhole, and the sequel, Roo's Fine Flapping Day at Flaky Acres Feather Farm. The third book in the series is coming next year, Gugu Giraffe Goes Fishing. Each of these books feature talking animals, but the issues they face are real life issues. They are fables. https://www.amazon.com/Auralee-Arkins... Thanks!

When you say "children's authors", are you referring to picture books, or does it encompass everything from picture books to YA? I think my book qualifies as a children's book, but it depends on the criteria.

message 91: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Preston | 2 comments I am new here, an author, and just published a children's all-age picture book focused on one city, told from the vantage of its streets, paths, and streams from its indigenous origins to today. The section on the indigenous Tribal history is co-authored with a member of the local Tribal Council who also was an advisor on the book. The book just received a great review in the local newspaper and a commendation from the city whose history it tells. The rules at goodreads state I can't publicize my new book, so I may be even breaking the rules in writing this post, but if you (or others) are interested, I am happy to do a Q&A.

message 92: by D. (new)

D. B. Henry | 4 comments hi I'm a newly published children's author, my first book is dedicated to my daughter. She was the inspiration, she had a very difficult start to life (not mentioned in the current book) and I have a few other books in my pipeline that highlight the ups and downs of our journey in the way that both children and parents can understand. During our journey, I had some dark and difficult times and I really couldn't find any books or stories that showed what I went through or encouraged me. My aim is to write these books so that other parents can seek and find solace in them; during heart breaks, loss, lengthy hospital stays etc

I would be very interested in an interview for your youtube show, if you are still looking.
thanks.

message 94: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Patrick I'm new to this group and published my first coming-of-age novel Mercy this past spring. Mercy is a story about finding family.
When Sadie was twelve years old, her mother got an itch for gambling, and she scratched it more often than she should have Often forced to parent herself, Sadie’s life is full of empty promises and big responsibilities. The book opens when Alice and her boyfriend drop off Sadie at her uncle’s farm in South Dakota so they can go south to look for work and a new place to live. Sadie meets her Uncle Charlie for the first time, a reclusive Vietnam vet who raises and boards horses. Faced with the very real possibility that her mother isn’t going to come back, Sadie and Charlie discover that family can come in all shapes and sizes. Mercy is a coming-of-age story that reverberates with the basic human need to be loved.

I'd love to talk about it with you if you are interested. The link to the preview is attached. https://a.co/2DWH9sr

message 95: by Jaya (new)

Jaya Viswanathan | 2 comments Hi Vince!
Hope you are doing great. Are you still looking for children's book authors? I am a neuroscientist and first time author and illustrator of a children's neuroscience book, Baby Senses. I would love to chat with you if you are still looking for authors! Baby Senses: A Sensory Neuroscience Primer for All Ages
Conversations between baby and adult animals are poems / rhymes centered around their "superpowers". Illustrations in this book range from arthropods to marine mammals. They inspire an appreciation of how brains have evolved to do various tasks, an understanding of animal sensory evolution, as well as the idea that what makes animals different makes them special. The book highlights 16 sensory systems ranging from “traditional” human senses and internal sensory systems to exotic systems that allow animals to sense electrical fields or see polarized light. The accompanying neuroscience paintings highlight anatomy of these systems as sourced from textbooks and images from under the microscope. An expanded glossary provides details on contemporary neuroscience research into these systems to an intellectually curious lay audience of all ages.

Hello! Despite being an older post, I thought I'd give this a go!

After working with children of all ages for nearly 20 years, I decided to write my own children's books. To date, I've written four self-published books and have two books in the works with a traditional publisher. And oh - did I mention the illustrator for my books just happens to be my 89-year-old mom? Not too many authors can say that!

Would love to be interviewed!

Debby | 1 comments Hi Vince!

My co-author Kate and I wrote a series of children's mystery books called "Mystery at Point Beach." We use real history, make-believe mysteries and a twist of humor.

We were featured in our town's newspaper and were interviewed at a local TV station. Two of the books won in the top five for Readers' Favorite. We attended the award ceremony a few years ago in Miami.

It is our ultimate dream for this series to turn into a movie or TV series!
