Do you like to listen to music or other background media while you read?

Not really on music although I was thinking of trying some soft instrumental later. I put on Ambience all the time with rain, storms, ocean, rivers and snowstorms - great! May find a creepy one later for a horror book as it becomes evening due to season.

Later in the Readathon when it is getting darker here in Sweden, I put on a fake fireplace on the Tv for that extra cosy feeling:)

I actually like dead silence.

I sometimes pair audiobook and physical book. This help me read faster and stay focused.

I started with an album by Thea Gilmore, since I know she has a new album out now. The new one is not on spotify, but I picked her 2019 album, Small World Turning. I like to use albums or classical pieces that are about an hour long as background for sprints so that when the music is over the sprint is over. I can't focus for long in silence, partly because the noises from outside get too distracting then.

I do love listening to music, but for now I am keeping my window open so I can hear nature.

If it's an audio book then nothing else. If I'm reading an eBook/physical book then I have low fi (instrumental only) in the background. If the song has lyrics then I will sing along (thus not reading). I need controlled noise in the background unless I can't focus.

My preference is silence. I'll listen to some type of white noise if I need to drown out distracting background noise.

I do actually! Often it's classical music, but currently I have dark synth on in the background.

nope.. it has to be quiet!

I prefer quiet, but if there is other noise going on around me while I try to read then i do listen to classical music.

I used to have music on all the time, but now I need silence as I can't concentrate otherwise. Though, I can read with people noise - my kids, or people in a cafe.

I can read with almost anything in the background, but I really enjoy music.

No, but it doesn't bother me if someone else has music or TV going.
