Booth 2: (Mickslibrarian's task) WEIHNACHTSYPRAMIDE
(selling Christmas pyramids)

A lot of Christmas traditions my family celebrates come from our German heritage. I have always loved the candle-powered rotating Christmas decorations. They seemed magical to me as a child.
Choose ONE of the following:

a. Most of the pyramids demonstrate nativity scenes. They include the story of the Christ child being born, of shepherds and wise men visiting the child, and of angels rejoicing in heaven. The nativity scene often is placed on the longest shelf at the bottom of the pyramid, while a pine cone or a star would crown the top.

Read a book with an angel, pine cone, or star on the cover.

b. The origins of the Christmas pyramids date back to the Middle Ages. In this period it was traditional in southern and western Europe to bring evergreen branches, for example boxwood, into the home and hang them in order to ward off moroseness in the dark and cold winter months. In northern and eastern Europe traditional candles were used to achieve this goal. The Christmas pyramid would eventually unify these two traditions and become a symbol of Christmas celebrations.

Read a book with MPG: MEDIEVAL which also has either a GREEN cover OR a candle on the cover (show cover)

c. The name "Christmas pyramid" came about because the Napoleonic Campaign in Egypt at the end of the 18th century brought pictures of the pyramids back to Europe and eventually to the Ore Mountains, where they reminded the people of the mining capstans and also of the Christmas constructions.

Read a book with all the letters "EGYPT/ORE" in the title (no subtitles, and title must contain 2 Es) OR author's name (may use all names as appear on Goodreads, but still need 2 Es)

b. Short and stubby Knockwurst, sausages are often all-beef and flavored with garlic. They are sometimes smoked and then served traditionally with sauerkraut and potato salad.

c. Leberwurst, is usually made from pork with some pork liver and flavored in various ways. It is spreadable.

Coffee grown worldwide can trace its heritage back centuries to the ancient coffee forests on the Ethiopian plateau and the story of Tea begins in China (2737 BC).

c. Spiced Mulled Wine
In Germany, Mulled Wine is known as Gleihwein or "glow wine". Its a traditional holiday drink usually made with: red wine, brandy, and mulling spices like cloves, star anise, and cinnamon.
