I think it depends on what style you’re going for, or what audience you’re writing for. 2k might be a longer chapter in a middle grade book, but it’s definitely not in adult fiction. 🤷♀️

No, that's good. I've looked it up before, and apparently a five-page chapter is like 1,500 words, so it's def not too little. I personally write short chapters too.

2k is pretty good. You could even go shorter than that if you wanted. Really, chapter length is up to you :)

A Pretty Game
Ayra of Darkwater Quarry
Hi everyone! Happy to be here. My name is Jill, and I write YA fantasy with the hope of spreading light. I have published three standalone books. The Falcon Princess is an empowering fairytale reimagining of The Swan Princess. A Pretty Game is for readers like me who love Jane Austen and like a fun, imaginative spin on a story. Ayra of Darkwater Quarry follows the adventures of a young girl seeking to know her family's past while discovering her own gift.

Also available wide via other platforms (Apple, Kobo, Nook, etc) for now. OH! It's on Hoopla if you have access to that.

Here is my first/Debut Novel Tales From Stone Creek: The Tales Begin: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Then an art book called Tales From Stone Creek Artbook: Characters: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Finally my third book, a picture book in honor of Father's Day and in honor of my late father. The book is called: Thank You Daddy: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Stone Creek is my main series I'm working on, though. As I speak I'm working on the next novel as well as making an artbook retelling of the above novel, and a coloring book for kids. It also features some fantasy elements in a few ways that I won't spoil if anyone is interested.
It's a series meant for all ages, completely clean and faith filled. There is violence, but only mild at best. The story focuses on animal characters in a fictional world. In this world at a unknown point in history, animals gained free will, human intellect and sentience, the ability to speak, and human aging. This changed society as we know it, causing a different, yet familiar world to ours. Witness the story of three groups/families that live in the same remote town and see how their lives effect each other and those around them.

I'd like to post up my book.
The Eye of Ebon
The Eye of Ebon
This book begins the journey of a girl from Norvaine who must become the champion of the Four lands. But she wields the White Sword, and to be its bearer carries a great cost.
Can she be the one to overcome? or will the Shadow destroy all that she loves?
Find out in The Eye of Ebon!
Seems Goodreads does not want me to link to outside stuff.
If you would like to see the trailer or a trope map, it can be found on my website.

They are in mainly rural settings, but my current WIP is an attempt at urban fantasy, which I've found is more difficult.

I'd appreciate any support The Law of the Elementari

This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is a powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. The target audience is teenage and above (some parts would be too intense for younger readers). This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out.

Hi! I think it’s easy to find Christian books on Goodreads but no so much as in person bookstores. I know some popular authors like Nadine brandes have books in Barnes and noble locations near me but they don’t feature lesser known Christian authors
I feel like I would like to see more Christian romantsy, or Christian epic fantasies! I feel like the Christian genre focuses on historical fiction and plain romance but again, I haven’t explored the genre widely

I love Christian fantasy, but it can be hard to find good quality books in that genre. I feel like there are more publishers focusing on it now, though, so that is nice.
I love Christian fantasy with well-developed characters and poignant redemption arcs where Christ is presented well and biblically even if in fantasy terms. Epic stories are definitely a plus!

The story wrestles with themes of light vs. shadow, identity, and the consequences of choices—for good or for evil. If you enjoy Christian fantasy that isn’t afraid to go a little darker while still holding to the light, this may be your cup of tea.
I’ll send a free ARC of both the first and second books. If interested, fill out the survey at the bottom of this newsletter.

2k words is definitely ok for a chapter if shorter chapters are what you want! I’ve written some chapters that were under 2k words.
The main thing to focus on is whether you’ve accomplished enough in each chapter to justify ending it there.
