I’m planning to read this in the second half of the month. Crossing my fingers for snow outside while I’m reading this one!

Started this yesterday at lunch. Lot's of characters. Hope to learn them soon so I don't get them confused.

Hi Marleen, I finished this last night. I liked it. The murderer wasn't who I first thought it was. I've read another book by Ruth Ware: Turn of the Key which I won in a Goodreads giveaway. I would say I liked this book better than the first one I read. Thanks for suggesting this and reading the book with me.

I’m glad you liked it Shari! I’m about halfway through now and it’s not going as I expected. (view spoiler)[There’s only one person dead (and one missing), people are talking a lot about shares and business stuff, and overall so far it is not the exciting thriller I thought it would be from the premise. Especially the first 100 pages, almost nothing at all happened. So I feel a bit ‘meh’ about it so far. This could of course change very quickly, we will see!

I wonder why every chapter starts with the little Snoop thing, because so far Erin and Liz have mostly just been offline all the time not snooping anything. So it’s not a very interesting addition to the book so far…

I’m curious if Eva is really dead, and what the deal is with Erin’s flashbacks, it seems like she lost someone in an avalanche maybe? Also there’s a connection with her and Topher apparently, so that might also have to do with her backstory and the flashbacks? (hide spoiler)]

Anyway, on with the book. I just wanted to put down my midway thoughts. No real suspicions, just a few things I wonder about, and I hope it will get more exciting soon.

I finished the book and sadly ended on a 2 star. Most of my previous thoughts still hold up. It got a little more exciting near the very end but I didn’t really care about the characters and I feel there was so much lost opportunity. (view spoiler)[Especially the Snoop chapter headers: most of the book they were the same boring offline stuff. If they had been snooping all throughout the story and seeing that somebody dead was listening to them or that somebody was in a different location than expected, that would have been cool! Now we only got the stuff that Eliot figured out but learned that not in a cool real time moment, and other than that the whole Snoop thing didn’t do anything. So why include those headers?!

Liz being the killer wasn’t surprising in the end. It made for more boring scenes of sitting in the chalet and talking. I would have much much preferred a reveal of Inigo killing off the snowshoe party for instance.

And then the ending with the Eva video at dinner was more uninteresting stuff. I really don’t understand the raving reviews I’ve seen… I think I will try one more Ruth Ware, but that’s it… (hide spoiler)]
