I subscribe though, so I hope the link works.
In Fiction, I read one of the selection. Apparently they do not use "fun to read" nor "trashy mystery" as selection criteria.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments Fun to read and a mystery should be the top criteria!

Couldn't open the link because I'm not a subscriber, Burt always in for a fun read.

I haven't read any of them- and have only heard of 15 of them!

I read the Underground Railroad by Colton Whitehead and it was a great book, but I wouldn't call it a fun read, intense and gripping would be more suitable. Harlem Shuffle and Razorblade Tears sound really interesting.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9502 comments Well I'd only heard of a couple of these and i got lost in 100 novels of different kinds. But at the bottom was a link to this article on the 10 Best Thrillers of 2021 which I think might house some of our group reads for 2022. I noted a couple that I want to follow up on, including one I think is actually in my TBR somewhere. A freebee from either Sherry or the organizers of the cancelled Bouchercon New Orleans.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments I looked at the mystery list too. Those people do not choose the same way I do I guess.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments Barry: Sarah Weinman is new to the NY Times Crime list this year, and I haven't been wowed by her choices enough to request any at the library yet. I keep looking each time her column runs which is monthly I think. As for the top Mystery books, the only one I knew and agreed with was Razorblade Tears. S.A. Cosby, which I thoroughly endorse - she noted she hadn't written about it in her columns proving my point. LOL

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments Here’s a crime fiction top list (I hope not behind a paywall) so should open for anyone I hope. In addition to the top list there is an extensive honorable mention list too. My TBR is drooling.
