After that, it will be back to The Laundry Files with The Apocalypse Codex
Went a little insane with Black Friday sales and ordered myself enough tea to last most of 2022. Plans this coming weekend include good hot tea, a comfy spot, and some reading.

That sounds lovely, Random. I recently needed to replenish my Christmas tea and the options were a single tin (which I already had) and a refill that was 1 lb. I'll let you guess which way I chose. ;-)
December is my annual "push to finish all the started books" month. I'm actively in the middle of Klara and the Sun, Ghost Talkers, We Have Always Been Here, Rhythm of War, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed, and Green Arrow: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 1.
Just started Leviathan Falls!
In other news, my ten year old and I just finished the Magnus Chase trilogy by Rick Riordan, and at his request we're continuing to plow through the Riordan catalog and have just started The Red Pyramid, first of his Kane Chronicles.

I finished Age of Empyre and thought it was an excellent conclusion to Sullivan’s Legends of the First Empire series. However, for the last couple books in the series, I found it hard to really connect emotionally with the characters, which was not an issue in the earlier books. So, 9/10.
I think I’m going to try to get into the second book in the Dagger and Coin series by Daniel Abraham, The King’s Blood. The first book was our BotM a while back, and the rest of the series is sitting on my TBR pile, so I think I’ll give it a go.
I’ve really struggled this year in finding time and attention span to read—my book count is way, way down. But I am generally liking the things I do read, so it’s OK.
(No links in this post because Goodreads is being wonky this morning.)

I adore most of the traditional flavors of masala chai . . . except for clove. I just have a thing against clove. And almost every single masala chai blend out there contains large amounts of clove.
And then I discovered that Numi has a Golden Chai with all of the flavors I love and NO CLOVE! And it tastes decent, so I went to see if I could buy it in loose leaf. And you can, in increments of 1 pound. Holy moly it would take me forever to drink an entire pound of tea! Especially for a blend that I'm only drawn to in cold weather. :)
And I went insane and bought even more tea last night. But, I can promise that this is my last tea purchase for the year. Honestly, my last.
Finished The King's Blood by Daniel Abraham, 10/10.
And then finished The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty, 10/10. Comments in our series read thread.
Next up, Leviathan Falls by James S.A. Corey.

OK, taking a break from books for this and another group between now and Jan. 1. So, The Bone Bed by Patricia Cornwell and The Long Mars by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.p are my next 2 reads.

Unfortunately, my challenge for 2021 is out of reach. It will be the first time in several years that I don’t meet it. But I read a lot of good books, and that’s what counts!

I'm reading Riordan with one of my boys too! We're in the middle of the Heroes of Olympus series right now.

My kiddo and I agree that the Heroes of Olympus series are the best out of the ones we've read so far!
I haven't posted my reading in a while - after finishing Leviathan Falls, I read A Beautiful Poison (historical fiction/mystery - not as good as some of the others of hers I've read, but still enjoyable), The Green Man: Tales from the Mythic Forest (anthology of short stories - lovely), and The Midnight Library (very sweet but predictable). I also finished reading Matilda to my six year old.
I've just started Ombria in Shadow and it hasn't quite hooked me yet, but I've got faith that it will.
