Date 1 - B - TASK ANNOUNCEMENT
B is for Bitch - Read a book with a kick-ass heroine.
To qualify for this task, the book needs to feature a strong female leading character. Qualification can come from the title, precis, tags or lists - think characters such as Kate Daniels, Charley Davidson, Cat Crawfield or Eve Dallas. These are examples ONLY, books with these characters would still need to qualify with title, precis, tags or lists. Books without a 'heroine' can qualify if they are MPG MM Romance (combined only, not separated) AND have a female character important enough to the story to be mentioned in the precis.
Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!
You have until Wednesday, December 22 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).

Books selected for this task need to have alliteration in either the title or the author's name. There can be a small word such as in or and between the alliterated words in the title. Date 6 - L - TASK ANNOUNCEMENT

If the rating for your book might drop below 3.8 or rise above 4.2 during the task, i.e. it is a new book, has very few ratings or it is exactly 3.8 or 4.2, a screenshot might be advisable and you might wish to withhold your rating if your rating is likely to change the average. Please include the average rating as the qualification in your completion posts.

You have until Friday, February 11 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s).
🌹The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 7🌹
🌹Theme - Seven Year Itch🌹
Date 8 - R - FINAL DATE!!
R is for Recycle - Reread a book.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to be a reread for you. Please include as your qualifier a link to your review for the chosen book or to your shelves, ideally searched for the specific book. The books read for this task must be on your shelves and marked as read twice - one of those dates on your shelf needs to be within this date! (So mark it as read before posting your completion.) It is not required that there are two dates listed on your shelves as that is a relatively new-ish GR feature, but if you don't have multiple dates, your review needs to in some way indicate that it is a reread. (One of my reviews before GR added the reread feature as an example of something I am looking for: my review Slave to Sensation) If your profile is private, you will either need to open it for the duration of this date or friend me. If I am am unable to verify your books, they will not count!
Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!
You have until Friday, February 18 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).

Q&A:
Q: MM romances are ok for this?
A: Yes, just has to be romance.
Q: When do I have to choose the book(s) I want to read? When do I announce them?
A: You don't have to announce or post which book you select as you do in the PtP, but you have to post when you complete the book with all the required information. It might be helpful to post when you find a book that works - your teammates might be looking for a book too. Or someone could use your book as a second book, especially if your review makes it sound good!
But you can select your book and start reading as soon as the date task is announced. Books must completed and posted by the end of the date to count though - there is not carryover into the next date.
Q: Just wondering if it’s ok to participate in this challenge if I’m in Australia I.e. in a different time zone!
A: Absolutely! The times for announcing and ending the dates will be based on US EST, but you are more than welcome to play! And you wouldn't be the only international player - of the top of my head I know we have Australia, Italy and England represented already. 😊
Q: What do you mean by tagged?
A: Tagged = shelved. So if anyone has shelved a book as 'alpha' or any of the others listed, it can be used for that task.
Q: Would it be alright to read an anthology/ a short story collection up to 90+ pages, so to read all the stories up to 90 pages and then finish that short story?
A: If you are using the anthology to qualify for the page count you would need to finish the entire book. Not just 90 pages and the novella that works for the theme. You can check to see if the individual novella is be listed on GR (not in an anthology) and see if it qualifies on it's own for the page count.
Q: As long as book is tagged romance on first page it qualifies???? or does it have to be historical romance, paranormal romance etc
A: Just has to have romance - on its own or combined with contemporary, historical or whatever.
Q: Can we use books we're reading to fulfill other challenges for this one?
A: Absolutely! Multitasking is the best!
Q: Can a group of us sign up as a team?
A: No, teams will be randomly assigned. That way you get to meet and play with new people. 😊
Q: What do you mean by “in precís?”
A: The précis is the book blurb on GR or back cover, so the qualifying description would need to be included there.
Q: Does romance have to be an MPG or can it be on a list of shelves?
A: It has to be MPG romance, but it can be historical romance, contemporary romance, romantic suspense, paranormal romance, mm romance - it just has to have romance.
Q: For the tasks that require tagging can it be from any of the pages of shelves?
A: Yes.
Q: What does MPG mean?
A: Main Page Genre
On the main page of the book on the right hand side there is a section that says "Genres". Anything listed under that section is counted as an MPG.
Q: So...each letter has 4 choices.....does only one get picked per week? Or are we given a choice?
A: One of the four will be randomly selected each week.
Q: What are the rules if the book is so bad you can’t finish it?
A: That is hard for this challenge, since you can read multiple books. But I will accept DNFs if you read to the minimum page count of this challenge (90 p.) AND 70% of the book. You must also state that the book is a DNF and explain why in your completion, include the page number you finished on as well.
Q: Are combo tags acceptable?
A: Combo tags will be allowed IN CONTEXT. So if the task is to read a book with a firefighter and your book is tagged 'cops_firemen_military', but the precis indicates the hero is a sheriff for example (or even if all the other tags just indicate law enforcement), the book will be disqualified. I strongly suggest you find other qualification if possible - I will be SUPER PICKY with the combo tags.
Q: Are abridged audiobooks ok for this challenge?
A: No, abridged audiobooks are not allowed for this challenge! They are not complete books and will not be counted as such.
Q: Is there a way to use books that are available in audiobook format only? No paper or ebook options for page count.
A: It is difficult to even estimate a page count based on the length of an audiobook because they vary so widely. But rather than disallowing audio only books altogether, because a minimum page count is required for this challenge, I have come up with a compromise.
If an audio only book is 6 hours or longer, it will count as a book towards your and your team's books, but it will not have a page count associated with it. So audio only books will not add towards the Page Turner Rose or be in consideration for the Longest Date Rose. This applies to AUDIO ONLY books, if the book has a page count that must be used!
Q: Can any edition be used for the page count?
A: We are using the English language first edition Kindle page count ONLY for this challenge! Do not use the actual edition you read - I have no way of knowing that. This evens out the unfair advantage for those books that have large print editions or other extended formats and makes allowances for those that listen to audiobooks.
Q: What about manga, graphic novels, comics... if they are over 90 pages and romance?"
A: No, that would not be acceptable. Hardly fair in a team competition.
Q: When asked for a correction and repost, do I have to repost?
A: Yes, reposts are required for corrections unless specified otherwise. I do not go back through threads looking for corrections - it would take an incredible amount of time to do so! If you want your book to count, corrections MUST be reposted.

How to insert a link into a post:
To insert a simple link to a shelf there are a couple of options:
* Copy the https address in the address bar of the page where the book is found - highlight the web-address, copy the address, and paste into your post
or
* Find a link to the shelf that you want (eg on my lists of shelves to use for the themes), right click with your mouse, select 'Copy Link Location' and then paste into your post
If you want to make it pretty and have a specific name:
* Type <*a href="insert the link that you copied as per above">name the location<*/a> but without the asterisks.

Here's how you find if a book you want to read fits a particular shelf:
1. Go to GR book page for the book you want to read.
2. Scroll down the page just a bit and click on "see top shelves..." (link under "Genres"). This will take you to the Top Shelves
3. With that (top shelves) page open in your browser, click: CTRL-F (Windows users) or Command-F (Mac users) to bring up your FIND option
4. Type the EXACT shelf name in the FIND search box.
5. With the shelf name in your FIND search box, on the book's 'top shelves' page, click NEXT as you scroll through each page. Sometimes you find it and sometimes you don't. You still have to scroll through the pages, but this way, the computer does the searching for you.
TIP: Try to look for shelves that you think could fit the book because although some books are not shelved properly, most of the shelves have some logic to it. For example, you will find Dark Lover in the Paranormal Romance, Vampires, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Adult, Supernatural, Erotica, Contemporary and tons of others (there are 44 pages of shelves for this book) but don't try to look for Dark Lover in the inspirational romance shelf. It's doubtful that you find it. :)

As a reminder, the holidays are wreaking havoc with the usual schedule for this challenge. So I will be adjusting the schedule for the first two dates as follows so no one feels the need to stay up late reading on New Year's Eve. 😉
Date 1 will begin on Thursday, December 16th at 6 PM US EST and end on Wednesday night, December 22 at midnight US EST.
Date 2 will begin on Thursday, December 23rd at 6 PM US EST and end on Friday night, January 7th at midnight US EST.
Dates 3 through 8 will begin on Saturday 6 PM US EST and end on the following Friday night at midnight US EST.
Please understand that there will likely be a delay for the Rose Tally for Date 1 and quite possibly the Speed Dating Rose for Date 2 as I have holiday plans of my own. 🎄🎅🏻🎄

I've yet to work out the details required for each task. I try to come up with allowances, but that isn't always possible.

Some teams are more competitive, but not all. More often it is a player or two on a team who read more. As long as you read one book for the challenge per date, you are contributing. When everyone on the team reads a book - that is 3 roses.

Yes, for that task it would be March, April, May and June.
Before each date begins, I put out a list of the qualifications for each task. It makes it clear what I will need for your books to work. The requirements for the hidden task will be revealed when each date begins.

I am truly hoping that "reread a book" doesn't see the light of day in this challenge! WHY would anyone want to read a book that they already know how it ends? LOL!!!
I really do have a question... as this is my first time, I am familiar with most "date" requirements, but how do we verify the "kick-ass" heroine? Please ignore this question if the answer is going to be in the explanation if it is called, but my brain made me ask because I can't figure out how to plan my book for it without knowing what it means! *headdesk* ;p

Every week, before the date begins, I will put out a list of what qualifications I will accept for each task. It is usually going to be something in the title, precis, tags or lists for something like kick-ass heroine. Other times it is going to be a cover item or publication date.
And I used to feel like you about rereads, but I am currently loving them! It doesn't hurt that I rarely remember the details of a story and love discovering them all over again. I actually have a long list of series I want to reread!

Yes, that is it exactly. The details of the fourth task will be revealed when the date begins.
You can look at the Scavenger Hunt Rose thread from the last round, maybe that will help you understand it better.

❤️ Page numbers with source **We are using the GR Kindle first edition page count ONLY, if available. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. If GR doesn't have a page count listed, please link to the Amazon Kindle book with a page count.**
Is this the first Kindle edition that pops up when you click to look at all editions of the book?
So, if there are 8 editions of the book you want to read we would use the page # for the first Kindle edition listed?

This is what I am looking for:
❤️Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only!❤️ If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book.

Ah got it- first publication date. Ok - thanks! Makes so much more sense now :)

🌹 Everyone should be getting notifications for this thread and their team threads so they don't miss anything! (And hopefully GR will cooperate throughout the challenge with notications! 🤞🏼) If you are claiming Scavenger Hunt Roses, follow that thread too, that is where I will ask for corrections to those posts.
🌹 I will post a breakdown of the qualifications for each task a few days before each date begins. The hidden task and its qualifications will be revealed when each date begins.
🌹 Books cannot be started before the date begins!
🌹 Don't forget to check that books are MPG Romance BEFORE you read them!!

There are a couple who have checked in, but not confirmed that they have read and understand the rules and their commitment. (See message #6 in the team threads.) If you haven't done that yet, please do it soon.

Its here. Check out this msg

So very sorry to hear this Roger - thinking of you 🧡💐

My condolences to you.

So very sorry for your loss.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
B is for Bad - Read a book with an average GR rating under 4.0.
To qualify for this task, the average rating for your selected book needs to be under 4.0. This information can be found on the main book page under the title. Please include the average rating in your completion post. If the average rating is likely to change over the course of the date, i.e. the book is new or has few ratings, it might be advisable to take a screen shot. Also, if your rating is significantly higher than the average, perhaps wait to rate the book until after the date ends.
B is for ??? - ???
To be revealed when the date begins.
B is for Butterfly - Read a book initially published in a spring month.
To qualify, the selected book needs to be initially published in a spring month - March, April, May or June of any year. Make sure you use the initial publication date! If there is a date at the top of the editions page - USE IT! Otherwise, I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification.

I'm so sorry for your loss...my thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear this Roger. My thoughts are with you and your family x

Would it work if the female mentioned in the precis is a daughter? Like in One True Thing

So sorry Roger!

I'm so very sorry Roger.

The first book, All I Want for Christmas... Is My Sister's Boyfriend, would work.
The second, One True Thing, doesn't mention any female characters in the precis. Perhaps you meant One Small Thing? One Small Thing would work, the daughter is mentioned in the precis and is a big part of the story from what I remember.

Would it work if the female mentioned in the ..."
Just as clarification with these. So it doesn't have to have a named female in the precis, rather just mention a female in someway that is significant? (e.g. daughter, sister, mother, etc)

Yes, as long as the book is MPG MM Romance.

Very sorry for your loss!
