I've read A Week in Winter (I've read most of Binchy, actually) -- great curl up on the couch author, and I remember liking this book. And I read The Secret Garden -- lucky you getting to read it now! Good luck on your challenge!

I re-read The Secret Garden a few years ago, I'd originally read it as a kid. Hope you like it :)

The Secret Garden was such a nice surprise. I loved it. Of course, The Two Towers and The Return of the King were both so good. I enjoyed them just after high school.

Good luck!

I already changed a book Ann. I couldn't help it.

Great list. I hope you enjoy all of your reads.

Denise (derickert) | 1269 comments The Two Towers and The Return of the King are excellent books in my opinion. LOTR is one of my favorite series of all times. I have many of your other books on my TBR, wish you the best of luck on your challenge.

Lea (leaspot) | 3655 comments I've been reading books off my list too. :-)

Good luck cleaning off your shelves, I hope you enjoy your choices. I have read and liked My Grandmother Asked Me to Say She's Sorry, but The Return of the King, The Two Towers, The Secret Garden and Daisy Jones were even better for me! All great choices, happy reading!

Amy D. | 171 comments Interesting that others have commented on The Secret Garden. I just reread it a couple months ago for the Motley Challenge. I barely remembered it from childhood.

message 9: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1144 comments Great list! Can't go wrong with Tolkien. I'm about due for a reread. Also, anything by Maeve Binchy. I want to read A Thousand Ships as well.
Happy Reading!

message 10: by Faouzia (new)

Faouzia | 308 comments Nice list Ann. I read the Secret Garden a couple of years ago and it was rather ok. Tolkien’s LOTR is however one of my all time favorites! I hope you enjoy it as well.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Good luck, The Secret Garden is the only one I've read

message 12: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2133 comments Daisy Jones & The Six and The Indifferent Stars Above: The Harrowing Saga of a Donner Party Bride are both excellent. I hope you'll like them too, and like all the others on your list. Happy reading!

message 13: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 708 comments I have read many of these (liked or loved most) and have one (the reading list) on my own challenge. I also had to change one because I read it early :)

message 14: by Zora (new)

Zora The Personal Librarian also caught my eye but hasn't made it to a TBR list yet. Good luck with your challenge!

Michelle | 92 comments Good luck on your challenge. Hopefully it will be a fun time clearing off your shelves!

I tried to keep this one distinct from the Motley Challenge myself.

Elizabeth A.G. | 32 comments Nice selections, Ann - enjoy! I re-read The Secret Garden recently and enjoyed it all over again. Tolkien's books are on my radar, but I received the Song of Ice and Fire collection by George R.R. Martin as a gift, so I'll be reading Game of Thrones in another challenge.
Happy reading!

message 18: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 14 comments Looks like a great list! I've read the Haunting of Hill House and have a few others on my TBR. Enjoy!

Alissa Patrick (apatrick12211) | 1817 comments Great list! I loved Daisy Jones and My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry!

I hope you can join us for The Reading List for our buddy read in March! =)

This was a fairly light read though not my favorite book by Binchy. I've owned a HB copy for years and..."

I read it years ago but liked it a lot (4 stars anyway.) It didn't stick with me though and can't remember much about it.

So I just looked over your list and saw that you have The King's General on it as an alternate! I have that around here somewhere. It's unusual to see any DuMaurier other than Rebecca (and occasionally Jamaica Inn) on anyone's list. A pleasant surprise!

Mary | 75 comments I am in the middle of re-reading Lord of the Rings. Such great books! I hope you enjoy your list!
