For our 2022 group reads, we will be having alternates for each of our monthly reads. So for January we have chosen two books each - a male author and a female author - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

The Way it is Now by Garry Disher The Way it is Now by Garry Disher

Set in a beach-shack town an hour from Melbourne, The Way It Is Now tells the story of a burnt-out cop named Charlie Deravin.

Charlie is living in his family’s holiday house, on forced leave since he made a mess of things at work.

Murder at the Mayfair Hotel (Cleopatra Fox Mysteries Book 1) by C.J. Archer Murder at the Mayfair Hotel by C.J. Archer

It was the most fashionable place to stay in London, until murder made a reservation. Solve the puzzle in this new mystery from USA Today bestselling author of the Glass and Steele series.

December 1899. After the death of her beloved grandmother, Cleopatra Fox moves into the luxury hotel owned by her estranged uncle in the hopes of putting hardship and loneliness behind her. But the poisoning of a guest throws her new life, and the hotel, into chaos.

The Banksia House Breakout by James Roxburgh The Banksia House Breakout by James Roxburgh

When Ruth Morris is moved into Banksia House by her workaholic son Michael, she is eighty-one years young, mourning her loss of independence, and missing her best friend Gladys terribly.

So when she learns Gladys is dying a state over in Brisbane, Ruth is determined to say goodbye. Enlisting the help of her fellow residents, Ruth makes a daring departure from Banksia House alongside renowned escape-artist Keith, and her formidable new friend Beryl.

The Waterhole by Lily Malone The Waterhole by Lily Malone

When a backyard dare to discover the source of a fabled waterhole uncovers human bones, small town detective, Marley West, leaps at the chance to kickstart his stalled career. But it’s more than two decades since developers filled the Cowaramup creek. The woman who owned the land—the Ross family matriarch—has passed away. Relations between her sons, Jack and Bill, are colder than the case.
