Betsy | 930 comments We are coming to the end of a year full of challenges, including:

> Relay Race Reading Challenge
> Bingo Reading Challenge
> Round the World Reading Challenge
> TBR Revival Challenge
> EHRTBM House Cup Challenge

FEEDBACK TO CONSIDER
1. Which challenges did you enjoy participating in or are interested in participating in future?
2. What duration do you think would work best?
3. Are there other ideas we should consider trying?
4. We have had the TBR, Bingo, Relay and House Cup Challenges for several years. Is it time to retire or rotate or revamp any of these out?
5. How have the tracking/scoring systems worked?

This is meant to be more general feedback though we can get into the specifics more if needed. Please remember to be respectful to other opinions!

Thanks in advance

Mod team

Linda Nielson | 708 comments I have always participated in the Relay and House cup challenges because they are non-stress challenges. Being a slow reader I don't feel like I have to read so many books. Any other challenges you pick that are no-stress I would probably participate in.

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'm new here but the ones I'd be most likely to participate in would be the real and the TBR revival. I'd be interested in Bingo depending on the categories on the cards. :)

Kathy | 991 comments I look forward to House Cup challenge, participate every year and enjoy it immensely. I think the scoring system used last year and this year works well. the time frame also works well here. I also participate in TBR Revival challenge to help clear out my ever growing TBR list. Haven't done the others.

Miriam (riareadstoomuch) | 216 comments This year I took part in the Hous Cup Challenge for the first time and I loved it!!! I think it would be really cool (and also even more exciting) to do a challenge like this that runs the whole year.
I also really liked the threads for the Bingo Challenge this year ^^

message 6: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I didn't participate in any, but would have in the Bingo if I hadn't somehow completely missed it (to be fair, I was trying to not take on too many challenges). I'd like to try to do a Bingo next year, perhaps only for the second half of the year as we finish (or fade out of) all the challenges that start in January (and any New Year's resolutions we make).

I wonder if a related game, that's not exactly a challenge, would interest anyone? I like "Pick it for me" because it gives me an excuse to browse someone else's shelves and maybe have fun discussing the book I assign them to read next.

Melissa (mkk2715) | 208 comments This is my first year in this group and I participated in all of the challenges. I would be happy if they are all back next year, with a change of topics for TBR revival and BINGO. In my option, this group has the best challenges compared to others I've looked at and I really love the house cup challenge. I think the scoring is fair and although the timing is a bit rough during the holidays, it gives you the extra push to finish up your TBR for the year. If looking to change it up, a year-long A to Z challenge (read a book matching every letter) might be good. Thanks for all you do in getting these challenges up and running!

Adrienne | 434 comments Thanks to Betsy and the crew for coordinating everything for the group!
This year I enjoyed the relay race reading, around the world, and TBR challenges. I know the house challenge is very popular, but I find it very busy with lots of posts and scoring. I don't need the competition component so I stay away from house cup. Working with the whole group to do the relay race challenge is something I enjoy, especially getting to see what everyone else is reading. I embraced the TBR challenge this year as getting through the books I already have and getting them out of my house is an ongoing goal set for me by my spouse.
A pick it for me/TBR type challenge is an interesting idea… If Cheryl starts and says I’m ready for a book assignment, then I go look at her GoodReads Want to Read list, give her a title, and post I’m ready for a book assignment. Betsy looks at my Want to Read list, gives me a title, and posts that she wants an assignment, etc. If you want to assign someone a title you have to then turn around and be ready to accept an assigned title too. It works if we are linked one by one by one. Each person could read at their own pace, when you’re ready for your next reading assignment check back in with the thread.
A-Z would be a challenging task also.

Laura | 689 comments I agree with Miriam one that can be run for the whole year or at least another challenge separate to the house challenge but similar in how it works would be great

I do think the time frame for how early books can be started without being finished for the house challenge needs to be rethought. Only because I don’t think it’s fair people can start a book at the start of September, leave twenty pages left to read so they finish them in the first few days of the challenge.
It creates such a disadvantage and isn’t really what the challenge should be about, because really the people who do that set their team up so that they are going to win no matter how hard the other teams try. Maybe books need to be started within the last week of September would be more reasonable

Betsy | 930 comments Thank you all so much for your thoughts and opinions. Just letting you know that we're putting it together to create a new and exciting year full of challenges that unite and stimulate, but most importantly get us reading and talking deeply.

Tessa | 12 comments I really like the TBR Revival. I liked the Around the World challenge but I kind of lost momentum when the maps stopped being updated.
