was it boring? is it worth the hype?
i want to know your opinion, but first you have to hear mine!
no i didn't find it boring i found it poetic what would you do on your last day? it's a question that I keep asking myself but never really have a real answer. but it touched me how mateo and rufus did on their last one. many think it is a spoiler to know that both will die but the real question is how and why?

it's a bit underwhelming—plus, the pace is also kinda very slow.

I found it so boring.Normally when I start reading s book I finish it at all costs no matter if I like it or not because I hope that the end will be good. With this book everything was expected, you can just read it on the cover.I think the idea of the book was interesting, but it wasnt written in the best way.Its has potential.

Because of the hype around it, I expected to experience every emotion and sadly did not. It wasn't bad or boring, just a light read.

It's a decent read, but nothing more. The subject matter is quite interesting, and the cover and title are appealing. But i don't like the author's approach at all, and i don't think this kind of book is likely to appeal to the more mature reader. It's actually quite superficial, despite the author's intention. i only forced myself to read it to the end because i had paid for it. Otherwise, I didn't feel any kind of attachment to the characters.

i didn't necessarily find it boring but it just wasn't that enjoyable of a read for me - it certainly did not meet all the hype.

Yes, the idea of the book, the plot that you read at the back of the book sounds amazing but, when you actually read it, it's a completely different story.
Mateo was boring in so many ways, his whole personality was based on him being shy and Rufus, even though he was more interesting, didn't amuzed me either. The writer emphasize a lot in details that, in my point of view, weren't relevant at all; That made me feel so bored while reading and made the book so hard to read.
The idea of the book was why I decided to read it but i don't think that was well developed, everything was plain and monotonous. Also, the writer included POVs of other people and i understood why he did it but I didn't even connected with the main characters so I wasn't interested in other people.
The plot, the characters and the story in general was so tedious for me that i couldn't end reading the book, maybe someday i will read it again and see if I was wrong. Right now I think that the book was not for me.

I don't have tiktok so I didn't know about peoples opinions on the book when I started reading it (I randomly picked it up from my local book shop)..In my opinion it wasn't boring at all and I also do think there was sort of a plot line as both protagonists experienced a major character development troughout the book which I loved! I did get quite emotionally attached to both Mateo and Rufus and bawled my eyes out when Mateo died x

Nope. I read it in one sitting and really enjoyed it. I do reccomend. :)

I really enjoyed it, it was just over-hyped. Plus I didn't cry at all.

in my opinion, it was overhyped, i had higher expectations. but overall a pretty good book

I don't think it was boring, it just didn't deserve the hype. Overall it was a pretty good read, I just expected a bit more.

Me personally I say it was. It was probably one of the slowest books I've read recommended by Booktok. In my opinion, not worth the hype but I'm going to try and read "The First to Die at the End" and possibly reread and reevaluate my hate for this book.

I enjoyed readig it, but in comparison to silveras other book "history is all you left me" i think it is quite boring. Its a bit overhyped if you ask me

I feel like there are people either loving the book or not.
I feel like the book is not about the plot.
In my opinion, every reader knows the plot by reading the title. Two teenagers are going to die in the end.
With that being said, there is no "action" or a plot twist or whatever.
I loved it because by reading the book you got reminded that you should live and not just exist every single day of your life.
I also loved how Mateo changed to live the last day with Rufus. Also I die for their relationship.
Both very different people but so cute together. So no, it wasn't a boring book I think that people misjudge it because they maybe didn't understood the book completely or what it really is about ( I am not trying to offend anyone, just a thought/theory why people think it's boring).

no, i enjoyed it

Personally, I didn't find the book to be boring per say, but it wasn't what I expected. So many people raved about the emotions in the books and I just didn't feel it. I thought it was good, don't get me wrong, but I think it was just over hyped.

I hate to say it but I was so excited to read this book- it was really hyped up on BookTok, but I was so underwhelmed by the book that I was honestly disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad book, I just think my expectations were set that this book would be AMAZING KNOCK MY SOCKS OFF when it was pretty mediocre for me...

I thought I was going to like it and it had a lot of potential but it ended up not reaching it.

I LOVED this book!!! It broke me when Mateo died. I didn't like the parts Rufus and Mateo weren't in (like all the parts with roommates, etc) I was expecting a bigger death (like a murder!) but still loved the book.

This book wasn't boring - I enjoyed reading it. It was fast paced and very well written. I think the idea of the book was very fun and creative, but I didn't like how the book itself was structured. It had potential to be a good book but didn't live up to my excpetations at all. I was really disappointed when I finished reading this book.

It wasn't boring but it wasn't interesting either. The moment I finished this book I didn't even lose one single thought about this because the storyline is really nothing breathtaking or shocking. That doesn't mean that it is bad book, it could be your favorite book but its just not my typ of book!

I read this book before all the hype on tik tok surfaced. I read the back of it in a Barnes and Nobel and it sounded intresting to me. I did not find this book boring at all! I read it all in one day and I was so intrested in the story and the circumstances that these two boys were put into. The whole concept of knowing you are going to die that day, just not sure when it will happen is actually mind-blowing to me. This is one of my favorite books by far I have read, I really enjoyed it. Also if you enjoyed this book, The Chain is also a really great book that has a few similarities.

It's an "ok" book, like a mediocre one.

it was an okay read i see why people like it but i had a hard time finishing it

I think the plot and the idea of the book are great, but i don´t feel the author did his best to develop the story. Also, I didn´t enjoy the way Adam writes, I felt it so superficial like he wrote things that anyone could say or write in this book (in my opinion). Anyway, It was good to read something that everyone was talking about.

i think that the beginning was very slow and a little boring, but at some point it started to be very interesting.I actually enjoyed the book, the characters and the love story but i had more expectations for this book, honestly.

“They both die at the end” had a lot of things going on so it was never boring! I was so absorbed by it since page 1, even though in the first half of the book I didn’t actually care about/connect to any of the characters :)

I didn't find it boring at all, I've read it very fast and it is an easy book so that is not the problem. My expectations were just too high because of all the hype, just like Chloe said. So i did like the book but it was just a bit disappointing because even my friends said it was worth all the hype.
I also don't think that the title is a spoiler, it makes the book more exciting because now you know that they will die, but you want to know how when you start the book.

noOo, it caught me from the second one

i did not like this book, it was sooo boring to me and there was really no plot, dnf

I enjoyed this book but I thought it was overhyped, my expectations were too high because of booktok

i really did enjoy this book, i ended up finishing it within a day. i would have to say it was really hyped up by others but i tend to be the type of person that doesn't listen to the opinions of others in order to not be disappointed. i also loved how poetic the book was and i'm glad that it was one of my few reads from this year. mateo and rufus honestly deserved better and despite knowing that they were supposed to die in the end i just wish it wasn't the end for them.
