I can take M for Mountains with Along a Storied Trail by Ann H. Gabhart.
They aren't tall mountains, but the book is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains in TN.

ETA: Actually it's the Appalachians in Kentucky. Not that there's a lot of difference, as far as I can tell. :)
