Divergent RP discussion

((me hoping this will start something))

Riley walks into the dorms, nervous, but not at all scared. This is where she belongs, she tells herself. She grabs a bunk and puts her stuff away, what little of it there is. Looking around, she's hoping to meet some people, get some friends, maybe even a boyfriend...

Cecily sits on her bunk staring out at the vast crowd of Transfers in the dorm. She spots Riley looking around, and she slides off the bunk to go talk to her. "Hello, I haven't seen you around before, what faction did you move from?"

She smiles brightly, happy that someone wants to talk to her. She had been sitting there for awhile, just in her thoughts. "Hey, I'm Riley. I transferred from Erudite. How about you? Are you nervous? I know I am..." she says, rambling. "Sorry, I ramble when I'm nervous." She laughs awkwardly.

Taylor lays on a bed in the corner of the room, reading a book and not paying attention to anybody else in the room.

"Riley is a nice name. Oh, you're from Erudite? I came from Candor, it was... nice, I guess. Dauntless is better though. I'm not nervous, I've had time to be nervous, but when you're in Dauntless when someone sees that you're scared or anxious, they use that against you. My first year was rough, but I can already tell that you'll be great."

She smiles. "Yeah, Erudite. It was just so stifling there. I needed to be free. I'm only nervous because all the people I've seen are kick ass. I know I can get there, but you know...." She smiles again, "Thank you!"

Cecily smiles back. "You shouldn't strive to be like everyone, you should strive to be better than them. You'll get there, with a little training, you will make it. Since you're new, you could use a friend to help you," She holds out her hand. "Maybe I can be that friend."

Riley nods. "Great advice. I'll keep that in mind." She takes her hand and says, "I think I'd like that," smiling.

"Great! So.. maybe you should look around a bit to get to know your dorm mates," Without waiting for a response, Cecily walks back over to her bunk and leans on it, arms crossed, watching everyone warily.

Riley looks around, curious about what she could mean. She sees one girl in the corner reading, but not much else.

Taylor turns the page of her book, not really paying attention to the two girls

Riley leans back onto her bunk, trying to see what Cecily saw.

Joana gets up from her bed and then walks over to Taylor, "Isn't reading books not allowed in Dauntless? If you wanted to read books during initiation why hadn't you chosen Erudite in the Choosing Ceremony?" she asked half-rudely but still having a bit of kindness and sadness in her voice. Her years of torture and being abused had changed her from a completely kind and humble person to a slightly rude and sad person.

Taylor looks up, annoyed. "Well then I'm sorry I enjoy books regardless of my faction." she says simply. Taylor goes back to reading her book.

She tilts her head, "Were you an Erudite before you transferred to Dautless?" she asks mostly curious. Maybe she's Divergent... like me, or she didn't want to be with her parents... also like me... she sighs as she thinks of these possibilities.

Taylor looked up. "No. I was a Candor that enjoyed books."

Taylor went back to reading her book

"Uh, sure. What is it?" asked Taylor

"Oh." said Taylor. She had never met someone divergent, at least, not that she knew of. She didn't know how to react because her parents always told her divergent people were bad people but she seemed really nice.

"I-I won't." said Taylor

Joana looks at both of them, She'd heard when the other girl had mentioned that she was Divegent but decided not to say anything for now. Something told her that Taylor was not Divergent and talking about everything in front of her was not safe. She also let the topic of Taylor reading in the Divergent sector drop. She was curious but she decided to talk to Taylor later too. For now she felt like playing Truth or Dare was a great idea but she didn't show much enthusiasm when she replied to the other girl, "Yeah, sure, let's play"

"Dare" Joana answered, pretty sure the girl would ask her something related to Divergent if she chose truth

Taylor felt like she didn't belong in the room so she moved to a corner and sat there to watch them

-Jack and Zoe entered, side by side. Zoe joking loudly about something stupid while her brother listened. They took two bunks next to each other, on the top bunks-

Taylor watched them walk in

-Zoe looked over at Taylor and waved- “Hi!” -She jumped off the bunk and walked over-

"Oh uh, hi." said Taylor

“I’m Zoe! Former Erudite, what about you?” -She stopped a foot away from the girl’s bunk-

"I'm Taylor. Former Candor." said Taylor

“Ooooooo! How was Candor? Is it true everyone was so- forcefully truthful?” -Zoe asked, completely oblivious to any sign of rudeness she may have displayed by asking-

"Yeah." said Taylor, giving short answers as usual

-Unfazed, Zoe kept asking questions until her brother came over and clamped a hand over her mouth- “Sorry.” -He said in a Scottish accent to the girl-

"Oh, it's fine. I'm used to it. Like I said, I'm from Candor." said Taylor

-He nodded, his deep green eyes searching her for something unknown-

-Zoe turned and jammed her elbow into his gut, he let go with a wince-

Taylor raised her eyebrows. She was used to seeing siblings fight verbally, not physically. "Oh. Are you okay?" she asked

-He nodded, and stood up-

-Zoe snorted- “He never learns, he’s fine!” -She waved a dismissive hand-

"If you say so." said Taylor, not sounding so sure

-Zoe smirked but was lifted up by her brother who pinned her arms to her sides-

Taylor watched the siblings go back and forth with slight amusement on her face

“Hey!” -She tried to kick but was refrained from doing so, by her slightly smiling brother-

“Give in!” -He joked, his eyes sparkling-

Taylor cocked her head and continued to watch them, smiling
