She whispered something and the stick lit up brightly at the tip.
Taliya grinned and lowered her hand. "In that case, I'll hold mine in front and you hold yours up there, and we'll have plenty of light!"
Joven cleared his throat from behind Taliya.
She turned.
He held up a stick of wood that he must have grown when she wasn't looking. "Maybe you just make a torch?"
Taliya grinned. "Thanks, Joven."
She took the stick and transferred the fire to it. That helped. She didn't have to concentrate nearly as much now.

Asher touched a sword hanging from a suit of armor, grinning. “Woah, this is so cool," he whispered.
"Look at all the mythical creatures they embroidered. It always makes me wonder if they used to be real," Alex said.
“It does," Asher agreed.
Used to be?
Taliya and Joven exchanged glances, but with all the other weird things happening, she wasn't all that surprised that they'd never seen a dragon.
Suddenly, Alex dropped through the floor and landed on the ground with a thud and a yelp.
Taliya gasped and ran to the edge of the hole that had randomly appeared out of nowhere.
"I'm alright! Mostly!" Alex called.
Taliya grinned painfully. "Mostly? Is there some way I can help?"

A brilliant light illuminated the hole, and Taliya craned her neck to see into the murky depths.
Then Alex shrieked.
"What is it?" Taliya cried.

Alex reached the end and held up her stick, which she commanded to brighten.
Something stood at the end of the hallway. It was tall. It was very, very evil.
Taliya choked and yanked an arrow out of her quiver, nocking it as quickly as she could.
Joven's sword was already drawn, held in a steady hand. His brown eyes scanned back and forth.
Joven was scary when he was concentrated.
Alex shrieked and stumbled forward. Her arms were outstretched. She almost looked braindead.
Taliya yelped, transferred her bow to one hand, and ran, catching up to Alex from behind.
She managed to grab her shoulders and pull her to standing.
"Are you okay?" she whispered, her hand ready to draw the bow.
That thing was still there, though she couldn't tell what it was.

Taliya released an arrow, and she knew she hit her mark perfectly.
The monster didn't stop.
"Alex! Run to us!" she screamed. The monster wasn't stopping.

Taliya stared in horror.
This was not good. Fear attempted to root in her chest, but she shook it away, looking around.
She saw the gaping hole in the ground.
"In the hole. Now," she said.

Red turned to Big Wolf.
“You think you could help me get it?” Big Wolf grinned, showing off white sharp fangs.
“Of course…But I can’t go in with you.” She nodded.
“Just take care of the guards, and I’ll be able to get inside.” The wolf ran off. A few minutes later Red heard the yells of guards and then silence. She reached the gate, and took one of the swords lying on the ground. The gate was open, so she walked inside. Hearing voices she followed them until she saw a group of people.
“Hey. Who are you?” She held the sword in front of her. Red had no idea how to wield it, she was more a dagger person, but they didn’t know that.
