True that. Not too flowery either, which I like.

Yes, that's true! I don't know about Sanderson because I haven't gotten to his works yet, but the part about balancing descriptions and action is spot-on!

You gotta read his books, Lily!

And now I’m the only guy here 😅
Cue the crickets!
Cue the crickets!
I thought you died 😂 Glad I'm not the only guy here haha

Taylor Swift's songs are terrible.

There, I said it."
I don't think I could agree more, though it all comes down to taste, I guess.

Personally, I like TS old songs, like Blank Space (I think there's poetic beauty there, Elijah!), but I think that her new songs have lyrics that, like you said, lack themes. Her new melodies aren't very melodic and honestly, from the ones I've heard, are depressing. I've often thought that TS should consider Christianity 😂
ALSO, I know some people that say that TS does NOT have a good voice compared to other artists (like Alicia Keys or something.
@Stephen Your comment made me laugh out loud XD)
Wow, Elijah. Just wow. Your ideals of marriage and romance are beautifully expressed. Your grasp of the failings of modern song-writing is spot on.
You should write some poetry/songs.😊 Moderns are profaning so much—yours would be a breath of fresh air. You showed such depth and eloquence.
(Sorry—I saw Catherine commented, so I thought it would be ok to step in and see what was going on in the guys’ thread.😁)

I think you would like a song by Taylor called Peace. It definitely speaks of a romance like you described, among other things. One of the lines is literally “all these people think love’s for show, but I would die for you in secret”. So anyway, it would be really neat if you could check it out and tell me what you think about it!
On another note, your descriptions of what love is really like I definitely agree with, and you gave me the idea to try writing a song like that. I’ve written plenty of songs about my partner, but never with that goal in mind, so I guess just thanks for the inspiration here. :)

(really? i've heard both! she's said it before, but the things that she does doesn't really seem like it)

I wish it stayed that way, but she started swearing more in 2020 and I don’t think she’ll be reverting back to clean music. It’s one of the things that I don’t like about her music, but at least it’s easily fixable with clean versions.
Sorry, another girl here. 😆
This is funny because I just had a conversation with some friends about TS, and they were saying that she’s demonic and claims to be a witch. 🤷🏻♀️ And apparently here music videos show some of that. I really don’t know anything about her, so I’m not here to judge anyone. I’m just mentioning it. I definitely don’t consider myself a Swifty, but I do like a lot of her songs. At this point I just keep her (and a lot of other pop artists) in mind that they are not Christ followers, and while I like there music, I can’t get to attached and I don’t want to get caught up in that worldly setting. But yeah, I still like a lot of pop music. 😅

NF is simply the best 😅And hey, why not throw 21 Pilots in there?

And that, my friends, is akin to a declaration of war around these parts 😅 -..."
Haha no, it's fine. I can see why you'd say that from Therapy Session and Perception, but have you heard The Search, CLOUDS, and HOPE? I think he dramatically changes his style and steps out of Eminem. His new music honestly sounds nothing like Em. My favourite album of his is The Search, I don't think there is a bad song on it.
Also, that first statement is false so long as Lil Pump is around hehe.

If you like rock/elctric sort of music, you'll like them. My favourites are Chlorine, Heavydirtysoul, Jumpsuit, Stressed Out, and Pet Cheetah, but it depends what mood I'm in. If you like deep music, go for Car Radio, though they are all kind of deep.

My personal preference when it comes to more contemporary music is some songs by Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd."
I don't mind some Bob Dylan, but I have to be in the mood. My favourite is Rolling Stone and Mr. Tamborine Man.

I agree that Mansion to Perception were pretty lackluster. But The Search onward is absolutely fantastic. He has his own style, I call it cinematic rap, and he uses a lot of piano and strings in his music as opposed to the standard sounds in hip hop and rap.
As a side note, NF has requested before that people don’t call him a Christian rapper, because he raps more about family and mental health than God.
(If any of this sounds defensive or aggressive, please know that I didn’t mean it that way! I don’t mind your opinion in the slightest, even if I disagree.)

Yeah, definitely! I love The Search album, up there with the MMLP as the greatest rap album of all time, in my opinion. So consistent!
He's definitely not a Christian rapper, so it makes sense for him to say that. But with knowing he is a Christian, he is much more popular than most rappers today, like Joyner Lucas, J.Cole, MGK et cetera (as in, he seems to have more subs on YouTube than all those guys).

Jesse, one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs is "Blowin' in the Wind." Have you ..."
I don't think so, but possibly because my grandfather is obsessed with him, so I'm sure I've heard it at some point. I'll listen to it now!
