Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments This year I really want to get through the books that are in my Audible account. Additionally, I want to read a few YA series by Black authors and get into more short stories and poetry. I am keeping my goal number at 100 for the second year in a row.

message 2: by Chauna-lea (new)

Chauna-lea Mikien (chaunaleatricia) | 65 comments Congrats, hope you make that goal! YA is one of my fave genres. I enjoy reading & writing it. My 2022 goals are: I plan on self-publishing my novels one by one. Three books published next year then the rest would be self-published after that.

Robbin (curlqueenreads) | 4 comments I’m setting my reading goal for 100 books again! I’m hoping I make it next year because this year I’m falling a little short at 76 books 😩 I want to read more books in my home library and focus on more non-fiction next year because I’ve been obsessed with fiction this year.

message 6: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments Yes that 100 is elusive isn't it? I am currently at 84. As a teacher I count kidlit, YA and poetry books (when I get to them). I also started including my Audible books this year.
I smiled at reading from your home library because I think that's an EXCELLENT goal.
Keep me posted. I'd love to see what you get into this year.

Annette Williams | 3 comments My goal for 2022 is 375. Last year’s goal was 300 but, I actually read 420. I’m keeping my goal under 420 because, I don’t know what my year is going to be like. I was rather lax with audiobooks last year so, I definitely plan to get back to listening in 2022. Happy reading ladies!

message 13: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Knight- Palmer | 23 comments I’m doing 125 for 2022 last year my goal was 100 and I did 114

message 17: by Alvina (new)

Alvina (alvina05) | 11 comments 250 for 2022. I actually want to reach 300, yet you just never know how the year will play out, so I'm giving myself a little buffer. Happy Reading Book Lovers ❤️

message 18: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn Terry 25 books for 2022. Also want to be intentional about what I read— I’m trying to expand my reading to a wider range of genres.

message 19: by D.T. (new)

D.T. | 68 comments I usually do 100 or more, but I'm going for 50 books this year since I think I'll be busier than usual. Going to try to read more novels than comics this year.

message 20: by Essence (new)

Essence Cropper | 3 comments 45 but I'm not going to stress myself over it.

message 21: by Candice (new)

Candice (candicecolleen) | 2 comments Goal of 75 books (what I hit last year), but focusing more on continuing to diversify my reading selections, both in finding new authors, and in genre. I've joined several challenges on Storygraph, one focusing on Black female authors; one with a range of prompts from which to seek out Black authors; and a couple that focus on diversity of experience/perspective (eg several "own voices" prompts, books set in each continent, books originally written in another language etc). Sharing below in case anyone is interested:

Candace | 1 comments Thank you. I also like reading books written by Black authors. My goal is 50. I think I aimed too high last year and barely found much time to read. Happy reading!

Sonia Favored | 1 comments 30 books this year

message 24: by Makiya (new)

Makiya Walker (kikiluv001) | 4 comments I kept my same goal from 2020: 20 books. I exceeded last year's goal by 2 and I've already read 2 so far this year...fingers crossed I don't get into a slump.

message 25: by Yolanda (new)

Yolanda Knight- Palmer | 23 comments So far I’ve read 6 books 📕

message 26: by Carrollynn (last edited Jan 19, 2022 04:51PM) (new)

Carrollynn (carrollynnb) | 5 comments Hello all. My 2022 reading goal is 25 books and/or audiobooks. I love reading and eventually found myself neglecting something I'd relished as a child and young adult. the year 2020 was an eye opener and afforded me the opportunity to read again and do more of it. Even though I started the 2021 challenge late, I was elated to have completed my challenge to finish reading 12 books by that year end.

I have a small library of books I've purchased over the years that am tackling. I'm looking at the Boxall reading challenge as well.

message 27: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments Hi Carrollynn . Thanks for sharing your goals. 25 is a great number. I looked up the Boxall challenge but I was a bit confused...what exactly will you be reading to complete the challenge?

message 28: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments Your doing great!

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments What were your first 2 reads of this year? Would you recommend them?

message 30: by GeekyBride (new)

GeekyBride I have a lot of new books due to having a in home library. So I’m going for 100 this year. Does anyone collect vintage books? I’m a Avid collector but I also college art as well.

message 31: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments Vintage books? That's so cool. What is your possession in terms of your books. What kind of art are you into?

message 32: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 1 comments My original 2021 goal was 50 but I finished with 170 books read. This year i set a goal of 120 but we will see.

message 33: by GeekyBride (new)

GeekyBride Hi Stephanie,
I pretty much love any type of book but lately I’ve been really loving the old era books. Like old love stories where love wasn’t accepted or laws didn’t permit. My father was a cotton picker and loving who didn’t look like us was against the law. I’ve read two of Attica Locke books and I’m drawn to find many like them. I just purchased Yellow Wife by Sadeqa Johnson. Excited about this book.

message 34: by GeekyBride (new)

GeekyBride As for art Stephanie. Omg my husband and I stay at the antique stores. I’m a veteran so many war and history art is what I like. However, I love a story behind the artist and how I inquire the art. There’s an Israel artist named Shraga Weil. I end up going to a thrift store ( hole in a wall type of place). Saw his art and paid $12 and turned out to be worth between $8,000-$10,000. It was a rare painting and after doing my research and speaking with the art school that the painting was originally designed for I was left speechless. The artist background and upbringing was truly a story to remember along with the story that I add to it with how I inquired it. I will forever keep and my husband end up buying me another piece of his art from Jerusalem.

LaTora (aka Sheila) James | 1 comments Hello,

I am all about the challenges this year I am Jumping in and doubling my reading goal this year, I want to read 104 books. My 2021 goal was 52 and I went over that so I figured why not got all out and double it. 99% of last year's goal was on my kindle so this year I am also going to put the electronics down a little and try to make at least 25% actual books 10% audible. I have tried audible but could not get into it, so I am going to give it a try again. I will be using a few challenges to broaden my range of genres. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is reading this year

If you're looking for romance, you definitely should read Christina C. Jones, Nicole Falls, AshleyNicole (that's is how she spells her name), Alexandra Warren, Alexandria House, M. Monique, Kema B,. Kay Shanee, Stephanie Nicole Norris, and Sabrina B. Scales. All of these ladies phenomenal catalogs and you can't go wrong with any of their books.

Hi Stephanie. I'm not sure if I will do this challenge. It's a massive list of books from which I can choose (see https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...). There are various challenges associated with reading books from this list only. Some look fun, some look more complicated than reading needs to be, etc.

message 49: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie A-M (steph818) | 36 comments I love reading your goals! I feel inspired.
