i've been hearing really good things about her newest, what moves the dead. if you haven't read the twisted one or the hollow places yet, i highly recommend them. :)

Been wanting to read this for a while but that's true of so many of my books. :)
It's good so far.

I have heard a lot of good things about her latest novels but I haven't had much desire to try any of them. I read a few of her earlier books, including The Woman in Cabin 10, and felt the same thing - it was average.

I read two this past month. I think that once you read a couple the soup is pretty much the same; not too memorable. I think that the best things about these kind of books is that they read so fast.

Someone recommended this to me a few days ago, after I finished reading Woom. I'm planning to read it sometime in the next week or two.
I'm glad that you're enjoying it.

Michael Shea is unreal! One of his stories, jeez I'll never forget it, but I forgot the title.

I loved that so much! M. Night Shyamalan has a new film coming of it, but they changed the title. I hope it doesn't suck.

I'm currently reading The Last Orphan (Orphan X #8) by Gregg Andrew Hurwitz by Gregg Hurwitz. I'm also reading Mr. Gaunt and Other Uneasy Encounters by John Langan by John Langan. Lastly, I'm listening to My Darkest Prayer by S.A. Cosby by S. A. Cosby. He's a relatively new author, mostly writing about crime and I ADORE his work.

Shea blows hot and cold for me. I haven't liked a lot of his Cthulhu Mythos short stories but I loved his posthumous novel Mr. Cannyharme.

"The Autopsy" maybe? That's been adapted for Del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, though I've yet to watch it.

I've read less than a handful of his stories, but like Christopher, I'm hot and cold. "The Autopsy" is far and away the one that hit me hardest. I think it shares an affinity with Campbell's "Who Goes There?" and along with some of its contemporaries like some of Ramsey Campbell's stories, Karl Edward Wagner's "Sticks" and T.E.D. Klein's "Black Man with a Horn" showed a different direction for Lovecraftian fiction from most of what came along at that time.

David Washburn | 13 comments I recently started NOS4A2 by Joe Hill.
I’m 40 pages in and not sure what to think yet.

message 943: by Randy (new)

Randy Money | 432 comments For what it's worth, I liked NOS4A2 a lot. It's a bit like early Stephen King, though, in that it takes a little while to gain momentum. Then, at least for me, it maintained that momentum to the end.

The mini-series of it started well, then drove off a cliff.

Fairy Tale is my fave SK book in ages. I had really enjoyed Later and Billy Summer last year...until the endings. I HATED the endings of both books. But other than Fairy Tale being a bit long-winded in parts, start to finish I think it's his best work in quite awhile. It's not really horror, more fantasy kind of like the fantasy elements of the Dark Tower series.
