The goal of the challenge is to read books written by authors from countries around the world from 01 January 2002 to 31 December 2022. The challenge includes diaspora authors, so you may read a book set in one country although the author was born or raised in a different one. Some authors like Aminatta Forna has parents from different countries - in her case British and Sierra Leone. You may use your judgement to allocate such authors to a specific country.

You may use books you read for other challenges. Any format is acceptable - paper, audio and ebooks.

Total books to be read is determined by the level you choose below. You may not use the same book twice.

Please remember that only books with 120 pages or more counts.

You can keep track of your challenge in this thread.

Choose your level for 2022:

(You may change your level at any point. You may also customise the challenge by choosing levels for specific regions in the world)

Level 1: The Armchair Traveler - Read books by authors from 1 - 5 different countries
Level 2: I'm going places - Read books by authors from 6 - 10 different countries
Level 3: I'm expanding my horizons - Read books by authors from 11 - 15 different countries
Level 4: I'm using planes, trains and automobiles - Read books by authors from 16 - 20 different countries
Level 5: World Traveler - Read books by authors from more than 20 different countries
