Ceelee | 212 comments Greetings everyone! Sorry I should have been here earlier but life got in the way. I survived Vegas! It was so much fun! I haven't been to any public events since March 2020, also in Vegas, so I really enjoyed it. I did all the correct things to keep myself and my friends safe. I definitely would have regretted it if I hadn't gone. Utah Utes are the PAC12 Champions first time ever and I am soooo excited that on New Year's Day they will be playing in the Rose Bowl! I have a close friend in LA so I am staying there. Makes it easier to turn down gatherings. This is a real dream imagined and has come true!

Sorry for the side-tracking! I am supposed to be talking about the books I read in November! Not very many but I have been a little distracted..

This shouldn't take too long....

The first book I finished is The Curse of Morton Abbey by Clarissa Harwood.

The Curse of Morton Abbey by Clarissa Harwood

This book was pure gothic with a bit of a modern touch. I loved it because it had all the elements of a classic gothic novel but it was set in the early 20th century when women were making a mark as capable employees in the work place. One of the characters late in the novel was based on a real person. The novel reminded me of The Secret Garden and after finishing the book I read the Author's Note and she mentioned how she was thinking of that same book. She liked my review on Goodreads. It is always cool when the author does that.

Next book was The Book Of Losar Fragrances by M J Rose.

The Book of Lost Fragrances (Reincarnationist, #4) by M.J. Rose

I liked the book but it got a little confusing trying to keep up with the plot and who some of the characters were. Pretty cool story about a family whose had a major perfumery that had been in business for years from the time one of their ancestors stole a formula and a bowl containing a fragrances that would give the person who wore it a glimpse into the afterlife and see their reincarnated selves. It's worth a read if you are into that kind of story.

I finished (or so I thought) the Laura Ingalls Wilder books with These Happy Golden Years.

These Happy Golden Years (Little House, #8) by Laura Ingalls Wilder

I loved this book as did all my girlfriends who were competing to get a copy of it at the library. It really was like gold to us. I don't remember too much about it except Laura and Alonzo got married. That was probably why we all loved it so much. .

Finally, I ended up the month with The Hound of The Baskervilles by Sir Author Conan Doyle..

The Hound of the Baskervilles (Sherlock Holmes, #5) by Arthur Conan Doyle

This was the Seasonal Reading Challenge Fall Group read for Classic Novel. I think I read it when I was younger but maybe I was remembering it from the movie. I am not sure if it was me or my dad who named it The Hound Of The Basketballs but that is what I usually think of when the title is mentioned. I really liked it. I may even read it again because there are so many details that I missed it would be fun to revisit it someday. I always love books set on the English Moors. (Wuthering Heights influence) BTW the Peter Cushing movie of the book is simply TERRIBLE!!! That is an hour and a half I will never get back!

That is it for November. At keas I liked all of them to one degree or another. December reads are probably most books I have ever read in a month. I have been doing my best to get books wrapped up by the end of the month so I can start fresh Jan 2. Unfortunately I won't be getting The Thursday Murder Club #2 done but it will be top priority in January. . I wrote down the books coming up and I think I have The Tenant! I just need to remember which ebook platform where I have it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY NEW BOOKS!!!

GO UTES!!

Ann (annrumsey) | 16958 comments Ceelee, congrats and good luck in the Rose Bowl. So exciting for you and the team. Nice list for November, a nice variety. I look forward to seeing your December list. I have a couple I may try to finish at least one before tomorrow night too. It’s good to have books to look forward to; so any we didn’t get to this year are treats for 2022!

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments I remember reading all the Little House books when I was growing up. Loved them. Your Utes played a helluva game in Pasadena, but my Buckeyes came out on top. KY WIldcats taking the Orange Bowl was icing on the cake for me! (I'm a Buckeye born and raised by Kentucky parents!)

Bonnie Happy New Year. Re-reading the Little House Books sounds like a fun idea.
