My four star review:

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) Nancy wrote: "I really, really enjoy reading Cornell Woolrich's books. They're not all great, but I still have a fondness for his work."

Sorry to just be seeing this. New job has me checking in with GR groups only on weekends for the most part. Daughter's basketball season has come to an end though so that opens up a little more time, but that will probably be taken up by sleep.

I have only read Woolrich's Night Has a Thousand Eyes which didn't do much for me, but I already like this one a lot better.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) Randy wrote: "Took me a while, but finally finished The Postman Always Rings Twice. I'm reminded of why it may be the seminal text of noir; Existentialism as it's lived rather than as it's theorized."

Well said. Also a favorite of mine.

What do you get when you cross elements of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with the Vermont Eugenics Movement of the 1930s?

PattyMacDotComma | 922 comments Aussie author Candice Fox has really established herself as a thriller writer, with the new TV series Troppo, set in the North Queensland tropics, based on her first book, Crimson Lake. Her latest, The Chase, finds 600+ prisoners turned loose in the Nevada desert, including those on Death Row. Why? You may well ask. I can see another film prospect here!
The Chase by Candice Fox 4★ My review of The Chase

A Little Mystery Book ᰔ | 30 comments I finished Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus. Now I’m reading The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith. This is the second book in the series of Cormoran Strike.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten by Helene Tursten

Octogenarian Maud values her privacy, likes to travel, and knows how to look out for herself. Maud also has a penchant for murder, so don't get on her wrong side.

As long as you remember it's fiction, it's a fun book. 4 stars

Pentecost and Parker #2, should probably be read in order. Someone has killed an old friend of Will's so she and Lillian head south to the circus to unmask the killer. It's OK. 2 stars.

Araych | 677 comments A Letter of Mary by Laurie R. King

Russell and Holmes #3. A friend of Russell's is killed in what appears to be a traffic accident but there's much more afoot. This particular effort by King is far from her best. I figured out the killer ( you knew that was no accident ) half way through the book and the ending got fastened to the story with Scotch tape and glue. But you gotta love Sherlock Holmes. 3 stars.
