I like it a lot although I've only read about 25%. Her prose has such a unique flavor - beautiful of its own accord but then you add in the long tangled run-on sentences, some of which go one for two pages, and the sharply drawn characters and vivid setting.... It's like if Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez directed a Virginia Woolf novel.

Just wait... It gets even better the more into it you get.

I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading stories of courage in the face of overwhelming adversity.

I like Yokomizo's novels. Very much looking forward to the newest one, Death on Gokumon Island. I also bought a copy of the film made from this book to watch after reading.

The Sympathizer was so good that I just don't think the sequel could measure up.

Female super-FBI agent Kate O'Hare and super-con man Nick Fox team up to catch Bernie Madoff by another name. Light, fun, over-the-top mystery-adventure and the first in a series. Good fun, I liked it a lot,

Somewhat predictable but entertaining. My 3 1/2 star review:

and I started reading the first Dave Robicheaux novel, starring an alcoholic ex-cop who is obsessed over his dead wife, a character type that I'm not sure has ever been used before...

The Neon Rain by James Lee Burke
I keep meaning to read The Neon Rain but it's always pushed aside for something else. I need to just do it.

I'm at 24, but 4 (and part of another) I've finished while on vacation for 12 days. It will slow down again starting tomorrow when we get home. I never really realized how full my home days are until now when I've had pretty much unlimited reading time.

A few years ago I had breast cancer. So I wondered what is more important to me: household chores or reading? I decided to read more and cut down on unnecessary household chores. A decision I've never regretted...

The Neon Rain by James Lee Burke
I have read the first 4 in this series and this one I only gave 2 stars- grittier than I usually care for, but the other 3 I really liked & came to admire the MC.
