I'll be curious to hear what you think about the Hayder. It's been on Mount TBR for years.

I had to stop reading Mo Hayder. Her books are just too violent for me.

Hello Jannelies! Yes, I absolutely loved the story. I didn't know there was a movie! I'm going to check it out.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I finished Tolstoy's novella which argues for moral elevation through abstinence. Not really a crime novel, but then again it is a story about a man who kills his wife.

On the final stretch of Tomb of Sand. It's really very, very good, but I'm having to take it slow because it's so very different. When I'm finished with it, I'll need a run of smaller books to get back into my reading groove again.

Araych | 677 comments Client Client (Stanley Hastings #5) by Parnell Hall by Parnell Hall

Stanley Hastings #5, OK to read as a standalone. I generally enjoy the Stan Hastings comic mysteries but this one is below average. The slow 1st half of the book is an obvious setup to the puzzle and the second half is OK but marred by some obvious coincidences. I go to a large building complex and just happen to park next to the guy I'm looking for. Just OK, 2 stars.

I've just finished Tomb of Sand, one of the best books I've read this year. Not for everyone, requiring very slow reading and a LOT of patience, but holy moly -- definitely for me. I'm also very much in awe of Daisy Rockwell's translating efforts in this novel.
