Kimiko | 88 comments Just completed "City of the Dead" by Jonathan Kellerman; another good Milo Sturgis/Alex Delaware mystery.

This is my 123rd read this year (surpassed my Reading Challenge goal). I'm back to reading the Virgil Flowers series by John Stanford again. I believe that will be my last read for the year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

PattyMacDotComma | 922 comments I wound up a yearly challenge with a new favourite book, Too Much Lip, by Aussie Aboriginal author Melissa Lucashenko. It is like sitting on the verandah with an indigenous family in a small town in Northern NSW.Love, jealousy, land rights. Lots of language, both Aboriginal and swearing. Loved both the written and audio editions.

Stanley Hastings #7 in which Stan is hired and then fired by a lady suspicious of her boyfriend. As you might suspect things go downhill from there. Another fine entry in the series, light and entertaining.

Started Murder After Christmas by Rupert Latimer largely on the good words said by Martin Edwards in his introduction. A sale price also led me to scoop up Edwards' The Life of Crime: Unravelling the mysteries of fiction’s favourite genre, which is going to take me awhile to read.

Patty | 4466 comments I’m almost done with Strangers to Ourselves: Unsettled Minds and the Stories that Make Us by Rachel Aviv.

This book—nonfiction—has been a bit of a trigger for me. Might not have been the right time to read the book, but it is wonderfully researched and the people she chose to include are heroes as far as I’m concerned.

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 286 comments I was pleasantly surprised by Joanna Bourne's Spymasters series. It's historical romantic suspense with more emphasis on the political intrigue than on the romantic pairing. Set during 1790s to about 1820 in France and England.

This true crime book tells the story of Dr. Linda Burfield Hazzard, an advocate of the 'fasting cure' for illness. Sadly Linda was more of a murderer than a healer.

Well researched story. 4 stars
