No. You can start now. Dates from 2/15 - 5/31 (if you plan to read fast at the end!)

Oh, good. I have to request most of the books I read from the library so it's nice to get a head start. :)

Thank you .... maybe those dates should be added to the task description ...

There are a few titles that come up and then a little "More from this list" tab.
Do we have to pick from the few on the main display? Or can we click on the "more" link and pick any book from the expanded list?

you can use the whole list of recommendations based on the shelf or the genre you're using - most of mine give me 50 recommendations.

Book 2: White Heat by M.J. McGrath (1 friend has read it, 19/2/15)

nope, the task doesn't require new authors.

My popular books section says this: "Looks like your friends haven't added any books in the last month.
Sorry, we only include your 20 most recently active friends." any way to resolve this :(

Best way would be to add some more friends. Since your profile is private, I have no way to tell how many friends you have, but sounds as if it may not be a big list. You could start by friending the mods - since you have a private profile, that might be a good idea anyway, to make sure that we can contact you if necessary.
You could also send friend requests to other SRC participants who have posted in the Looking for GR Friends thread here on the SRC.

no graphic novels. Maybe try another shelf to base your recommendationss on?

You'll need to just keep track of the date you received the recommendations - since I am not you, I cannot see your results.

4/10/15 - Popular books among my friends this month: Honeymoon for One - 1 friend has read it, 1 friend rated it.

Example: Recommendations > Char Doctors Vets Shelf
No Sex in the City
Because you added Band-Aid for a Broken Leg
I haven't read No Sex in the City yet, but the blurb doesn't suggest that anyone in it is a doctor or a vet. Band-aid does have a doctor in it, and he's Australian, and so is the main character in NSitC and I assume that is what the recommendation is based on, rather than what my shelf is called.
Can I still use this book?

sure. The idea of the task is to get some new reading ideas, so it doesn't really matter whether the recommendation fits a particular shelf.

No books with the main page genre children or kids may be used for this task.
Book 1: Go to Recommendations, at the top of the GR page. Read a book recommended by GR, based on one of your shelves or genre recommendations. Required: Tell which of your shelves or genres the recommendation was based on.
Book 2: Go to the Friends icon at the top of the GR page (the symbol is on the right, with 2 people, next to your inbox symbol). Click on that icon. On the upper right, you'll see 3 tabs: "Friends", "Popular Books", "Add Friends" - click on the tab "Popular Books" to see a list of "Popular Books Among My Friends this Month." Read a book from that list - note that the list will change during the course of the challenge, so jot down the date you found the book and include it in your post.
REQUIRED: Include in your post the number of friends who read the book and the date on which you found the book on the list.
