William (williemeikle) Any NetGalley reviewers here?... my next Lovecraftian novel THE DUNFIELD TERROR is up there as of today - coming in April from DarkFuse

https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/sho...

Please note: DarkFuse generally only accepts requests from top reviewers and sites that have adequate traffic, plus genre-specific organizations and individuals. We also allow copies to be downloaded by top reviewers at Amazon.

Bill (shiftyj1) | 4891 comments Thanks! Got it! I am looking forward to this one for sure. Of course, I look forward to all of your stuff Willie, so it's not that big of a shocker :)

message 3: by Bandit (new)

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments That does sound good. I've requested it, but they usually turn me down. Probably not enough reviewing on Amazon, though I certainly do enough on here.

Please not..."

I'm a NetGalley Top Reviewer, but Dark Fuse turns me down every time, too. Trying again -

Aww :) awesome!

I just got an email that I got denied asking for Wake by Elizabeth Knox.. they said that it's because I'm not in the UK and today they added a note that only for Uk readers pls. Yet they plug the books on every american site they can. Annoying.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments What's a Netgalley top reviewer? Have they started ranking us now too? Ugh, I sure hope not. I always forget to update that thing.

message 15: by Char (new)

Char | 17459 comments I don't know, Bark. I've never heard of it. I haven't been over there for very long, so if there's a top reviewer list, I'm sure I'm not on it. :)

It's news to me, too.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments I hope not because I'm more of a Netgalley slacker.

ᴥ Irena ᴥ (-irena-) | -20 comments Lovecraftian. Even when I know it will be declined, I requested it.

message 19: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (brandiec) | 229 comments If you go to your NetGalley Dashboard, on the left-hand side there is an area called "Badges." If you're a Top Reviewer, you'll see the badge there. I have no idea what I did to qualify as a Top Reviewer.

Laurie (barksbooks) (barklesswagmore) | 1471 comments Ahhhhh I will never see that then :)

Found this on NetG just now

Every member starts with the Professional Reader badge below. There are two other badges members can currently earn:

1. 80% badge - Members who provide feedback for 80% (or more) of their approved titles will receive this badge.

2. Top Reviewer badge - Members will receive this badge when 3 or more of their reviews have been added to any NetGalley title details page by a publisher. (To see which reviews have been added just go to your Shelf, then under Feedback Sent you will see a little icon next to the titles where your review now appears on it's Title Details page.)

Me too, Char and I'm at 82%. I wonder if you have to stay there for a certain length of time. Thanks Kasia for the info!

message 27: by Ken B (new)

Ken B | 6810 comments 40% into it. Really liking it! Willie evokes 1950's horror/sci-fi. A black and white flick.

Willie. when you get a film deal on this one, don't let them use color.

Got that book from the library. Yet to read it, but was very intrigued by the New Zealand setting and the new author.

Kaisersoze | 294 comments Does it sound too jockish to waltz in, bellow: "Three badges on Netgalley! Boo-yah!" and swan out again? ;-)

message 34: by William (new)

William (williemeikle) You -really- shouldn't joke about Jocks on a thread started by a Scotsman. No good can come of it... :-)

message 35: by William (new)

William (williemeikle) PS...

THE DUNFIELD TERROR is now available to preorder for Kindle, saving you $3 off the price after launch

This one is set in Newfoundland and has some glowing fog, a mad scientist, lots of snow, a shipwreck, some tentacled things, a dead whale, rum, cigarettes, some boats of various sizes, a bar or two, some stiff upper lips, a shed and a multitude of universes, among other things.

Some of my major influences are on show - Lovecraft of course is obvious from the title, the cover and the subject matter, but there's also John Wyndham in there, and more than a touch of old Professor Quatermass, along with possibly bits of Doctor Who's more trippy adventures in the timey-wimey stuff.

I had an awful lot of fun with this one. I hope my readers do too.

I preordered it tonight after reading your excellent Hares and Graces! Just for good measure, I also purchased Clockwork Dolls, The Hole, Abominable, Broken Sigil, and Tormentor.
