Daniel Hanson-Brown (dozerpup711) | 11 comments April: BOOKS TO SCREEN

I'll be reading The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty

I've had this book on my Kindle for a while, so this seems like a good reason to knock it out.

CHALLENGE COMPLETED 4/7/22

This was one of those times that the movie was almost exactly like the book, which was expected since the author wrote the screenplay (and won and Oscar for it). I did feel that some of the characters' dialogue would almost venture into caricature, specifically the mother who was a fount of 70's slang and the detective who could've been a non-smoking, Jewish Columbo. Other than that, I did enjoy reading it and gave it 4 stars.

Jay (tropicalfish) | 8 comments “Book to Screen” stumped me for a while. I didn’t know I have this book until I rummage through my library.

The Shape of Water

Elizabeth Turlington | 15 comments This month I will be reading "The Ruins" by Scott Smith. I had no idea there was a movie based off this book until I started doing research for April's motif!

Cecil Huston | 232 comments I'll be reading Mystic River by Dennis LeHane. Haven't seen the movie yet, so coming in clean.

Nyx CHALLENGE COMPLETE

I read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

message 7: by Maria (new)

Maria Lebron | 6 comments I always have too many books I want to read for each prompt. This month it will be The Hobbit by Tolkien, and Atonement by Ian McEwan.

I read The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde."

Oh that's one of my favourite classics. (Though Wilde not so much.) Many adaptations have been made ..."

I've only seen the 2009 film version. I don't remember much of it since I watched it many years ago.

I read the Hating Game by Sally Thorne and would rate 3.5/5.

What I liked: hilarious read and cute characters. I would have rated this book higher, but I didn't feel engrossed with the novel.

Book - Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Rating 5 stars. A complex look at the relationships between three men who were childhood friends, and how different events affected them and their relationships with each other. That was oversimplified, but my review is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I read One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus
loved this book.
I started watching the series they made from this book and I have to say that 3 episodes in, and I gave up. The book is so much better and the show doesn't follow the book enough to even keep watching

One of my favorite books, though the movie was atrocious.

The Keep The Keep by F. Paul Wilson.

I read The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn) on which season 2 of the Bridgerton series is based. Loved the book and really enjoyed the tv series as well.

message 14: by Randi (new)

Randi Robinson (wvteddy) | 23 comments I took a little liberty with this one. Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson hasn't been made into a movie yet but one is in the works with Dolly starring and Reese Witherspoon producing. I enjoyed it. I listened to the audiobook and it was nice with Dolly reading her parts of the story.

Yalonda (yalondade) | 80 comments Challenge complete: An emotionally difficult read but a tale that deserves to be read by everyone.

The Mauritanian (originally published as Guantánamo Diary) by Mohamedou Ould Slahi

I read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams in April. Really enjoyed this one. I haven't watched the movie yet because a friend mentioned that it covers more than just the first book.
