yes I am!!! I just finished the part where Lars is like "can you cut a girl in half?" and just keeps asking that! ugh it gave me the heebie jeebies lol. The author does such a good job at portraying the tension in the room. At first, I didn't believe that she actually saw a child's hand through the window. I thought she was an unreliable narrator, but when it actually turned out to be a little girl, I was freaking out!! it's been a while where a book actually makes my heart start racing haha

Omg, I know...so tense and that is throughout the whole book.

Did you get to when she makes her first plan on how to rescue the little girl?

no not yet! she's still trying to figure it out, so far she has a brick i think haha

Corina, what do you think of The Poppy War?!

I'm enjoying it, the world is interesting. I know the author has used real history and put it into a fantasy setting so I'm want to look that up a bit and compare haha. The main character Rin can be a bit annoying lol, but I feel like I can understand where she is coming from. I'm definitely continuing with the series. Did you read it?

PS: it has a lot of violence and brutality in it...

yes I read the first one but I read it around the same time as I read A Little Life and it was just too much lol. too dark, depressing, and violent at the time so I held off on reading the rest. I have the second one on my shelf but haven't picked it up yet.

I agree! I remember her being super annoying and a lot of the choices she made bothered me. I did like how much work you can tell the author put into the story and the universe she created!

Ohh, that wouldn't have been a good pairing. A little life is definitely a lot to take, I know I cried...I was a bit furious on the author to be honest lol.
Rin definitely makes some questionable choice and she acts a lot from rage, which I dont agree with, but at the same time, she hasn't had an easy life and everything is pretty much falling apart around her. I will for sure read book 2, maybe in the next couple of months, dont want to let too much time pass.

I was too! I don't know what her goal was when writing A Little Life. I felt like the amount of trauma and abuse in that was just unnecessary :/

and yes, that's exactly it! she's been through so much at such a young age and now suddenly has all this responsibility on her shoulders! it's tough haha
