John Warner (jwarner6comcastnet) | 97 comments Shizuka Satomi, renown violinist and teacher, made a deal with the devil more than a half-century ago. But, her contact has an "outs" clause. She has forty-nine years to entice seven violin prodigies to trade their souls for fame and fortune. Thus far, she has bartered six souls but still lacks one more. Then a runaway trans girl falls into her lap. However, Katrina Nguyen believes that she is currently living in Hell. "...this was a girl who had run away from home, who had been beaten, had her ribs broken..".

Katrina begins to find with her, as well as the crew of a spaceship masked as a donut shop, the family she thought she would never find. However, will this prodigy hopeful be Shizuka's seventh victim or will Shizuka renege on her contract and be damned to Hell?

What I loved about this book was how a disparate cast of characters coalesce about Katrina to become a loving and supportive family she never had. Each of the primary characters were well "fleshed" out, which allowed me to envision each one. The plot rarely bogged down and the pages easily flew by. I'm not usually a fan of fan of fantasy but this one is a true exception.

I'm sorry! But think about it...you will never be without something to read.

Susan Tunis (suetu) | 30 comments This is the book I've been recommending to everyone looking for the next House on the Cerulean Sea. Another life-affirming book about kindness. This is a trend I can get behind.
