Ain't he married with children?

Not that I recall.

SB*needs low angst books* You know I felt a little sorry for Dickhead when he had to realize that one of his was the culprit. The way he felt he should handle or be responsible for his lawyer and stuff. It was a little sad that he had that type of shaking up of his world.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
I’m glad he was given props for standing up for one of his employees and not backing down until it was proven to him beyond a shadow of a doubt. That is a side of him we’ve not seen.

Michelle | 2653 comments I was wondering what everyone thought of Summerset and Eve's interaction in this book?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
Signs that their relationship may be shifting.

Selina (burf5502) | 6 comments This was a great book because you could feel the connection between Eve and everyone around her. Her connection to Peabody, Dickhead, and her team. The expansion of the relationships storylines is what I liked, while still keeping me on my toes about the murderer. I hate it was one of their own.

Even though this won’t rate as one of my favorites, there were things about it I loved:

1. Mary Kate (M.K.) being so smart about staying alive and almost saving herself. She was spectacular and her job family created a strong connection for me to her. I wanted so badly for her to live.

2. The Mavis/Peabody house updates are so feel good. I love the idea of how Mavis & Leonardo and Peabody & McNab are creating a family through this home.

3. The interns! Quilla & Jamie Lindstrom keep showing up in this series and I love how they are being developed. Nice that Jamie had a role in the case and Quilla is thriving under Nadine.

4. Interview. I always enjoy these sessions but this was particularly tricky given that Andy was trying to go for an insanity plea that would give him minimum incarceration time. Eve, Peabody and Dr. Mira played the session brilliantly.

5. Roarke’s businesses. Loved that pub with the “snug” and how the team was given it as a respite as they searched for Andy’s house.

6. Before & Now. I really liked how these segments were incorporated in the story.

I’m sure there’s more. Anyone else have something?

Barbara "Cookie" Serfaty Williams (goodreadscomcookiew1801) | 1573 comments The past and present scenes did not bother me I was used to that. It was the story line I did not like.

Michelle | 2653 comments I'd forgotten about the snug! That was so unexpected yet so something Roarke would do. He never misses a trick as seen by him taking her to her first pizza spot. And so close to their anniversary as well. I can't wait to see what she get for a gift. ☺

When they mentioned their anniversary, I got nostalgic🥰

Me too. It made me want to go back and read the series from the start again!

I think this was my feeling. It had other stuff that made it good but the case itself not really.

SB*needs low angst books* I think M.K. reminds me of Arielthe victim from in Creation. That was who I thought of listening to her POV. She was like I will live no matter what.

I do see us getting a lot more Jenkinson and it will be interesting if MK comes up more in future books associated with him.

I think the criminal was very underwhelming. A spoiled brat type like the Jerry from Thankless in that he wanted everything his way but he was a lot less interesting.

I felt that it was things that could have been explored more but weren't which is how I felt about Secrets and the whole Larinda Mars background.

Karma Queen (karmaqueen) | 260 comments I just finished the book this morning. Did anyone else wonder how the victims changed their clothes while shackled? M.K. Took a shower then put on the clothes Andy left out for her. How does she get the shackled wrist through a shirt sleeve? This is really bugging me. Anyone else?

Sorry I missed this Karma Queen!

I thought there was enough slack in the chains to reach the showers. As for clothes, I figured they, had, clothes going on over their heads.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments I thought that the chains were long enough to get to the showers too.

For some reason I thought the legs were shackled. I need to go back and read this section.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 15057 comments Mod
My recollection was that it was only one leg that was shackled.

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) | 441 comments I gave up after the first chapter. The subject matter was a bit sad but gruesome.

Sorry it didn't work for you. She does have some gruesome stories, but those usually pull me in faster.

I guess that is the case with the fanbase Robb has built throughout her long series. There is a lot that women bear. Many women, whether they read or not, are sometimes stronger than men. YOU... are stronger than me in that department :)

That's funny! I'm only strong with fictional crime or TV true crime. It scares me but I can't stop reading.

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) | 441 comments There is only one kind of crime book that I can stomach, and that is a book that has one twist or revelation every (shortish) chapter. I got that from Written in Blood. Hope you read it sometime.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3059 comments I will. It will be by "recommended book" to complete one of my challenge items.

Karma Queen (karmaqueen) | 260 comments ElectricOutcast wrote: "Possible Yanni? (Yet Another Nonsensical Nora Inconsistency)"

I think you hit on it. One wrist and one leg were shackled. Sometimes I get stuck on little details like that.
