This is the Pre-Read thread for the February 2022 Classics selection. This month we will be reading The Stranger by Albert Camus.

Who's planning to join in on this read? Why did you choose this book to read? What are your expectations in reading this book?

Once I was planning on reading it in French to practice the language. But it would take a long time, so I guess I'll read in my mother tongue. I really liked The Plague.

Read this nearly 50 years ago. Don't recall what edition it was. Be interesting to see if I remember much.

this is so weird - i’ve only just found this group and saw that this was one of the books this month. i picked up this book in a bookshop a few weeks ago thinking, ‘oh i cant believe i haven’t read this yet - i should buy it!’. it’s been over 2 weeks and i still haven’t started the book, but i’m hoping this group gives me reason to now!

This fits into one of my philosophical challenge reads. I plan to begin mid-month as there are a few other books I had planned in advance.

It wasn't a book for me, unfortunately. It's a shame, because I liked The Plague when I read it many years ago.
