racharaa | 298 comments I have so many books on my tbr but so little time to read them. My schedule is so hectic. I can’t focus on both school and books at the same time… gimme some advice. I really want to read as much as before. Kinda in a slump right now.

message 2: by Angelika (new)

Angelika | 70 comments i started to listen to audio books while i walk to school...and made a reflex to always have a book with me to read whenever i have time at school

message 3: by gabs (new)

gabs | 56 comments i don’t either, but I’m lucky i don’t need much sleep and I can stay up to read and it’s nice (for books i own)
for books online (which is simply cant own; for different reasons) i download them on my phone and read at school or in places without wifi
uhm yea, I’m sorry for your slump, maybe try rereading a book you loved
have fun x

message 4: by savvvv (new)

savvvv (savannahbort) | 4 comments I listen to audiobooks when I’m at work, cleaning, taking a walk.. etc!! I also try and have a routine where I read a couple chapters when I wake up, before I go to bed, or both!!!

message 5: by racharaa (new)

racharaa | 298 comments Awww thanks for your suggestions guys. I’ll try audio book 😉

message 6: by Haylie (new)

Haylie (hayliera3) | 5 comments so I have school from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM because of basketball practice everyday, and I have two games a week. So honestly, I am busy like 80% of the day and when I get home I'm exhausted. I usually jst run a bath and read while I take a bath and that's really all i have the time for, if i have a study hall that day during school ill read during study hall if i feel like it.

message 7: by Lacey (new)

Lacey Langdon (laceyrose) | 5 comments I work 9-5 and have a 4 year old. I listen to audiobooks while getting ready in the mornings and on my lunch break at work. I go to bed as early as possible so I can get a solid couple hours of reading. Where most people watch TV at the end of their day, I read instead. It is hard sometimes to fit it all in. The audiobook has been a game changer for me. I can listen as I prepare meals, get ready, or do anything really (unless it's super sexy and not for my 4 year olds ears lol).

message 8: by Lily (new)

Lily | 11 comments For some reason I just really need to read so, I just go straight for the book I feel I need. I'm a senior in high school and I usually read ad the morning and late at night. I don't if this can help you but it works for me

message 10: by Ann 🦢 (new)

Ann 🦢 (chrisannreads) Before going to bed I try to at least finish a chapter or two, if not, during the day when I have nothing to do I will try to read a couple pages. But doing that, I don’t force or stress myself out just making it fun!

carlyn (taylors version) | 20 comments Turn on do not disturb and throw my phone across the room😌

message 12: by Catrin🪭 (new)

Catrin🪭 | 6 comments i don’t do my homework so i can read

message 13: by piper (new)

piper rieman | 3 comments literally sit down and don’t put down the book till i’m done

MK ♡´・ᴗ・`♡ | 18 comments im trying to read instead of being on my phone as much so like instead of scrolling through social media i'll read even if its only for 5 minutes

message 15: by Jessye (new)

Jessye | 18 comments i just push everything aside and read lmao, if it’s hw i try to finish it in class and then read as much as i can

message 16: by annabella (new)

annabella | 90 comments Honestly I read when I have a ton of other things to do. Sometimes I just say to myself I’m gonna lay down and read for awhile and I just give myself time to relax. I mostly read on weekends or days off or days that I don’t have a lot of school work, and on school weeks I usually read at night and I always end up tired in the morning. I feel like finding time it read it really hard and I wish I did have more time too :/ it’s all about like I guess managing your time but it’s always hard to do.

message 17: by Amy (new)

Amy | 9 comments I read for an hour every night right before bedtime, and it helps me unwind and sleep better.

renee (kaz's version) | 72 comments I feel this ugh. between my part time job and all the work on me bc it's my senior year, I feel like I have no time at all, but I learned to take advantage of empty time. in between shifts im in my car, in the parking lot, reading king of scars. twenty minute study break? reading shatter me? doing homework? audiobooks!!

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Ali (cjenali) | 2 comments Honestly - my sleep pattern is horrendous because it’s the only time I get to read!

message 20: by DarknessLighttt (new)

DarknessLighttt | 48 comments Before bedtime and when all the family members are slepping. I usually read until 1 or 2 in the morning and I sleep like 5 or 4 hours before waking up for school

message 21: by Amaiah (new)

Amaiah (helnikbrainrot) | 4 comments I brought a book sleeve, so that I can carry my books around with me when i go to school or when i’m just not home in general. It’s really helpful because it has a little pocket for my book tabs and highlighters ☺️☺️

message 22: by ava (new)

ava | 41 comments uh i dont sleep- also i read all the time- at home, when i should be doing homework; at school, when I should also be doing work; literally any social occasion that its probably considered inappropriate to bring a book to and read at

message 23: by Ava (new)

Ava Himelhoch | 2 comments I do sports and take hard classes, so I don’t have a ton of free time. I’ve found that there are lots of moments in school when teachers aren’t actually doing anything so as long as you won’t get in trouble you can get a book out and read between their pauses in talking lol. Also just every night before I go to bed I read at least a chapter or a chunk of a book just to make some progress daily, no matter how small

message 24: by it'sSid (new)

it'sSid (youdontwannaknow) I don't make time either, I just read when I am soppused to be doing the 10 page easy

message 25: by it'sSid (new)

it'sSid (youdontwannaknow) But when I can't (during exams and stuff) , I spend my weekends reading

And some of the things I do to get out of my reading slump are:
Find your favorite genre and get more books in that
Have the mindset that you want to read or else it will be boring

message 26: by candra ⁂ (new)

candra ⁂ | 5 comments I started reading at night, it has honestly helped me fall asleep faster and I feel more relaxed when I go to bed.

message 27: by mariam (new)

mariam (mariam_lololol) | 7 comments honestly i’ll just go for weeks or even a month or two without reading because i’m so caught up in my studies then burn out and just binge read books without sleeping or studying. it’s unhealthy.

message 28: by karmaisreal13 (new)

karmaisreal13 | 20 comments Ignore everything else I have to do

message 29: by Julia (new)

Julia | 1 comments mariam wrote: "honestly i’ll just go for weeks or even a month or two without reading because i’m so caught up in my studies then burn out and just binge read books without sleeping or studying. it’s unhealthy."

Ok but this is literally me. The way I rationalized it is there are many worse coping mechanisms. The key is to schedule some friend and family time between the reading to stay more connected to reality.

message 30: by Iman (hiatus) (new)

Iman (hiatus) (konigreads) i’m busy with college as well so i feel youuu but i always sleep super late so before i go to sleep i usually just pick up a book and read a chapter or two (sometimes i ended up finishing it right away) but try at least a few pages a day if you really want to push it through. goodluck! you got this ;)

message 31: by celia (new)

celia | 8 comments I have my books downloaded on my phone usually so that makes it easier. I read in between classes, I read on breaks at work, and then I always set aside an hour before bed to read something I enjoy. I’m an English major so I read a lot, but I find it’s important to take time to read something I enjoy so I don’t forget why I love reading so much in the first place.

message 32: by kami (new)

kami | 1 comments I carry my books with me to most places so I just start reading whenever I get time. In between classes, during lunch etc. I think reading at least 10-20 pages a day maybe at night before going to bed would be nice...

message 33: by Kai (new)

Kai | 20 comments If you’re a night owl, then try to read a little before bed. Sometimes you can incorporate reading into daily tasks like when you’re eating.

message 34: by viktoria (new)

viktoria I read on my phone during breaks in school and try to read before I go to sleep and during the weekends

message 35: by hales ♡ (new)

hales ♡ | 10 comments online school, part time job, no friends, & a terrible sleep schedule. i take advantage of every free second i get.

message 36: by stephanie (new)

stephanie | 106 comments i just do all my homework during the week and read during the weekend, if i have nothing important to do

message 37: by Florencia (new)

Florencia C. (clavelessrojos) | 23 comments i always try to give it the same importance as my other responsibilities , but for me have a time un the day to read is súper important, for example i always do it before go to sleep , so i know that im going to be reading almost 10 min at Day , and i always take a book with me, so when im bored in school, un the bus etc i read (it helps a lot)

message 38: by Jxm (new)

Jxm | 16 comments I'm currently in my second year of uni and work part-time, so I don't really have a lot of time to read either. I usually listen to audiobooks or read books on my phone when traveling to school or going out and try to read a few pages at night before sleeping. Holidays are the only time when I am really able to read more.

message 39: by maggie (new)

maggie | 50 comments i make sure to prioritize my homework and not procrastinate on it, as well as taking social media off of my phone as they are also distractions. another suggestion is to bring a book to classes with you, that way if you have a finish early or have a free period you can get some reading time in!

message 40: by lulussecretss (last edited Feb 11, 2022 09:59PM) (new)

lulussecretss If it's exam season or a time where I have lots of tests then I stop reading books during that time (unless it's like short stories or webtoons I read during break for ex). If it's a normal time, I try to do my hw first, and I try to pick up a good hobby where I continue a book when I'm bored instead of going online. Another thing I do to continue my books if I have to clean my room or do the dishes for example is listening to audiobooks. I'd also say to read as much as you can during school holidays and in summer. Hope this helps :)

message 41: by ✨Meryem✨ (new)

✨Meryem✨ (faylinn) | 64 comments I work mostly from home, but I commute to work once a week and I have 3 hours when I do, so it's 3 hours worth of reading.
otherwise, I try to finish my chores (workout, meals, taking care of my animals, cleaning, food shopping, selfcare, etc ...) and read in bed until I sleep.
I always have 3 different reads going on that I pick up depending on my mood : A manga, a Fantasy and a contemporary. During my chores I always have an audiobook on but sometimes when I don't feel like reading a book I chose to play a visual Novel.

Ebony Rae (ebonyisreading) (ebonyisreading) | 192 comments I set my morning alarm for 30 mins earlier so that I can spend some time reading in bed
